Amazing Watercolors, and goodbye to Dynamic Duos

Happy Saturday, everyone! I hope you’re all well. I am pretty good — also boring. This week I continued preparing freezer meals and also started catching up on laundry. A little knitting, a little Doctor Who. Not much else to report.

Stampin' Up! You're Amazing (retiring stamp set), Flower Shop, watercolor paper - Dynamic Duos challenge #100 - Sarah Fleming - Prepare to Dye

Wow! Where has the time gone? When I was chosen for the Dynamic Duos design team, I thought that six months sounded like a long time. I was a little intimidated by that time commitment. But now I’m wondering how it went by so fast, and I’m pretty sad that it’s coming to an end — I’ve had such a great time working with my fellow design team members and getting to know them a little. I’m also sad that the entire Dynamic Duos challenge is coming to an end! The design team found out a couple of weeks ago that the 100th challenge, today’s challenge, will be the last for Dynamic Duos. Lesley and Anne Marie have done such a fantastic job with the challenge, and I will miss it for sure! I’m so grateful to have been a part of it!

This week is our Triple Threat — three colors instead of two. The colors are So Saffron, Pool Party, and Smoky Slate. I started with a Smoky Slate card base. Then I cut a mat out of Stampin’ Up!’s Watercolor Paper. I love this paper — it takes a LOT of coloring to get this stuff to pill. I got out my trusty baby wipe (I just get much smoother colors using a baby wipe than using sponges), pressed it down onto the So Saffron ink pad, and sponged on some color. Then I did the same with the Pool Party ink. I didn’t have a specific design in mind, I just wanted to make my own watercolor-ish background.

I actually tied on the Smoky Slate ribbon before I did anything else. I wrapped it around the mat, tied a knot, then wrapped the two ends around to the back and glue-dotted them down to the back of the mat.

The sentiment is from the retiring You’re Amazing stamp set. I looooove this set. I was afraid it was going to retire, and that was confirmed this week. So this one is only available through June 4, while supplies last. I embossed the sentiment on Whisper White cardstock using Versamark, Pool Party embossing powder, and my Heat Tool. Then I colored in the AMAZING letters with my So Saffron marker. I cut it out using an Apothecary Accents die, lined it up on the mat, then trimmed off the edges of the sentiment panel. I sponged around the edges of the sentiment frame with So Saffron ink and my baby wipe. Then I sponged just a tiny bit of Smoky Slate around the edges of the panel.

I threaded the Pool Party twine (from one of the Sale-A-Bration freebies, retired) through the Vintage Faceted Designer Button, tied a bow, and glue-dotted that down to the sentiment. Then I popped the whole thing up on Dimensionals.

The last accents I added were the flowers. These are from the Flower Shop bundle — the Flower Shop stamp set and the Pansy punch. The bundle is retiring. I think the stamps and punch will be available separately, but the bundle will not be in the new catalog — so if you want to bundle these and get the bundle discount (15%), order that right away. I made the flower centers using the Petite Petals stamps and punch, then added a Smoky Slate candy dot to the center of each flower.

The other designers have made some fabulous creations, and JoAnn is back with us this week! So head over to the challenge blog and see what we’ve got for you. And play along!
