About Me

Hello! My name is Sarah Fleming, and I'm a paper addict living in central Texas. I'm an independent demonstrator for Stampin' Up! and love to teach others how to make lovely paper projects. I always have ink-stained fingers (I'm okay with that). I also knit. If you're in the USA, I'd love to be your demonstrator!

Oh Happy Baby

Oh Happy Baby card - handmade baby card - Stampin' Up! Starburst Sayings and Something for Baby - Sarah Fleming - Prepare to DyeGood morning! Today’s card is for the current Fab Friday challenge, which I had to play along with because it is Fab Friday 47. Any fellow ALIAS die-hards out there? *fist bump*

I wanted to use Calypso Coral and So Saffron, because I usually neglect them, as I tend to bypass them for brighter colors. Subtles are nice for babies. But then, hey, I needed a little excitement in the card, too, hence the addition of all the gold pops (I’m also trying to make myself use gold sometimes, because I’m a silver girl).

I actually love how this card turned out! I love all these colors together, and I’m always happy when I get to pile on the buttons and ribbon. Haha. Here’s the Fab Friday sketch.

FabFri47

I started with the Oh Happy Day starburst, then added the onesie and the booties for the two smaller items. I thought the card still needed something, so I added the big gold starburst (embossed with the Decorative Dots folder) behind my triplet.

The Oh Happy Day starburst is stamped in So Saffron, and then I went over the dots in the letters with my Calypso Coral Stampin’ Write Marker. The baby items are in the same colors.

For the ribbon embellishment, I first used the Calypso Coral striped chevron ribbon, folded it in half, and fringed it with the fringe scissors. Then I hand-cut a little flag from the Gold Fancy Foil Designer Vellum to make sure I would have a little heart up there. I stapled the vellum to the ribbon, then glue-dotted the Gold Sequin Trim and the Calypso Coral button on top. I hid the staple with the button. Sometimes you want the staple to show, and sometimes you don’t. :) Lots of glue dots down the back of the ribbon attach it to the card.

The addition of gold with the other subtle colors looks fantastic! So sparkly for a new baby. Thanks for sharing at Fab Friday!
