About Me

Sarahfleming1 Hello! My name is Sarah Fleming, and I'm a paper addict living in central Texas. I'm an independent demonstrator for Stampin' Up! and love to teach others how to make lovely paper projects. I always have ink-stained fingers (I'm okay with that). I also knit. If you're in the USA, I'd love to be your demonstrator!

World Cardmaking Day

World cardmaking day blog hop header

Hey! It’s been a while (life, first year of formal homeschool, turning 40, life, etc.), but I’m jumping back in for a World Cardmaking Day Blog Hop with a bunch of fabulous Stampin’ Up! demonstrators using all current Stampin’ Up! products. This is such a fantastic way to celebrate this event, and we have lots of projects to inspire you. You are currently visiting my blog — Sarah Fleming in Texas, USA — and you will visit lots of different places as you hop today. There is a list at the end of the page to help you navigate from blog to blog, so follow through the hop to see 30 amazing projects.

Here’s my card, a double gatefold card that showcases the Festive Season bundle, which includes the Festive Season photopolymer stamp set and the matching Festive Stitching Thinlits dies. I designed this for a recent card swap with other Stampin’ Up! demonstrators.

Festive Season bundle double gatefold card - Stampin' Up! holiday catalog - Sarah Fleming - Prepare to DyeMy base for the card is Cherry Cobbler cardstock. I sort of followed this tutorial to get the dimensions of my card, but I also just fiddled with it to get the layers that I wanted. CLEAR AS DAY, right? But seriously, I just fiddled. That gorgeous designer series paper is the This Christmas paper from the annual catalog.

A close-up of the belly band:

Look at that ornament! One of my very favorite things from the holiday catalog. I stamped the ornament in Mint Macaron and then cut it out with the coordinating Festive Stitching thinlit. The thinlit punches the holes in the ornament for the decorative stitching. Cool, right? As you can tell, I was in a gold mood when I designed this card. I used two strands of Gold Metallic Thread for the stitching, added a strip of Gold Glimmer Paper to the front of the belly band, die cut the ornament topper in the same paper, and used the Gold 1/4″ Natural Trim for the bow. The center of the ornament is from the same stamp set.

Here’s the card without the belly band.

The “Merry Christmas” stamp is one of my favorite new sentiments from the holiday catalog; it’s from the Hang Your Stocking set. The tiny trees (or tops of a dense forest, depending on your view of it) are stamped in Garden Green and Mint Macaron, and they’re from the Greetings from Santa set. I just love them.

Stampin' Up! Cable Knit embossing folder - Sarah Fleming - Prepare to Dye

Look at that detail! This is the Cable Knit embossing folder — I’ve knitted those braided cables (on some Maudie socks that have been sitting unfinished for about a year and a half). One note on the embossing — I wanted the cables all facing the same direction, and since the two embossed panels don’t touch, I couldn’t emboss both panels at the same time. However, one set of cables would have been upside down if I’d tried to just emboss one panel and then the other. So you have to cut separate panels to emboss, then glue those directly on top of the card base.

The sentiment is from Merriest Wishes.

And that’s my card.

Thanks so much for visiting my blog today; I’m so honored to be included in the hop with all of these wonderful demonstrators! Don’t forget to continue on the hop and see all the wonderful cards from around the world. Remember that currently you are at my blog — Sarah Fleming — so check the blog hop lineup to see who is next on the list.

You can buy everything I used to make my card in my online Stampin’ Up! store (links below). And make sure you check back soon for all the details on my October classes, including my new Class in the Mail. See you soon!
