An encouraging word — vote for me!

Hey, there! It’s been a couple of weeks! How was your December? Ours was… busy and… exhausting. I’m sure we’re not alone in that! From Thanksgiving until Christmas, we were home for exactly one weekend, and we road tripped all over Texas for the rest of them. Before our final road trip of the year, we decided to all get sick — two separate viruses at the same time! — and I think only one of us is completely over everything, and that’s my oldest daughter, who didn’t get this nasty, lingering cough (she still got the stomach bug, though). Christmas cards are finally going out today — better late than never, right? The last three years it’s been never, so I’m feeling okay about it. Haha.

Even though December didn’t go as planned, we’re still feeling very blessed, and we had a great Christmas. I hope you did, too!

Anyway, thanks for stopping by today! We are being highlighted on the amazingly talented Kylie Bertucci’s blog, and you can go VOTE for my project. Our theme for this highlight is encouragement, as we all need a kind word to build us up now and then.

Stampin' Up! Cool Treats suite - available January 2017 - Sarah Fleming - Prepare to Dye Papercrafts - shop with me if you're in the USA!

Isn’t this DELICIOUS? I almost said “literally,” and then I remembered that it’s paper. This is the new Cool Treats suite that will be available in the Occasions catalog on January 4th. It’s one of my favorites from the new catalog; I know I say that a lot, but I have so many favorites!

*My card base is Pool Party, and the paper frame is from the Tasty Treats Specialty paper. You will love this paper! It’s fantastic.

*On top of the designer paper is a piece of Watercolor Paper. I painted this with an Aqua Painter and two colors of ink, Watermelon Wonder and Peekaboo Peach. In my next Facebook live video (follow my Prepare to Dye Facebook page and subscribe to Notifications to see this video as soon as it is available), I’ll show you how I did my background, and why I prefer to dry my paper with the Heat Tool — it’s a completely different effect from letting the color dry naturally.

*The white circle is cut out of Whisper White cardstock using the Stitched Shapes framelits — these will be available again very soon! Mid-January is the official estimate. I glued that down with my favorite glue, the Multipurpose Liquid Glue.

*Each ice cream color is stamped with two different stamps. The main fluffy stamp, then the shaded areas. The stamp set is called Cool Treats. The cone is stamped in Crumb Cake, and the cross-hatching is stamped in Versamark and embossed in Gold. I just couldn’t resist the extra texture. The ice cream and cone are all cut using the Frozen Treats framelits. You will be able to buy the stamps and framelits together in a bundle for 10% off on January 4th, $48.50 for the bundle. Just wait until you see everything you can do with this bundle!

*The sentiment is stamped in Watermelon Wonder. This is two separate stamps, as you get to mix and match the sentiments. I made the banner 3/4″ and flagged the ends with the Triple Banner Punch.

*I popped the ice cream and the sentiment banner up on Dimensionals.

Stampin' Up! Sprinkles Embellishments, available January 4 in the Occasions catalog - Sarah Fleming - Prepare to Dye Papercrafts

*Just look at those gorgeous shinies, y’all! I spread a thin layer of glue from the Fine Tip Glue Pen under the sentiment, then dropped some of the Sprinkles Embellishments on top of the glue. If your glue layer is thin, it doesn’t take long to dry. And it holds the pretties on really well.

*I added a few more sprinkles to the Pool Party ice cream using the Fine Tip Glue Pen. I finished off the card with a Whisper White panel on the inside, topped with a 3/4″ strip of paper to match the outside of the card. Finishing the inside of the card adds so much to the look and also balances the weight so your card stands up better.

I hope you like my card! Thanks for visiting. Make sure you head over to Kylie’s blog to vote for my card. I would love to be chosen for the international blog hop!
