About Me

Sarahfleming1 Hello! My name is Sarah Fleming, and I'm a paper addict living in central Texas. I'm an independent demonstrator for Stampin' Up! and love to teach others how to make lovely paper projects. I always have ink-stained fingers (I'm okay with that). I also knit. If you're in the USA, I'd love to be your demonstrator!

Bugs and Kisses

Stampin' Up! Beetles and Bugs stamps with Labeler Alphabet stamps - Handmade love card for Valentine's Day or any occasion - Sarah Fleming - Prepare to Dye Papercrafts

Yeah, I went there. I love puns. #sorrynotsorry

My daughter asked Santa Claus for her own Stampin’ Up! stamps and ink pads — that warmed my mama heart. And then my son asked Santa for his own Stampin’ Up! stamps and ink pads. And that just about did me in.

I hope my kids always love to craft with me. (But let’s be honest, I hope they also always love Legos so I can send them off for quiet time so I can actually get crafting *done*.)

So Santa got them their own stamps and ink pads — and the best part is he bought them from me. ;-)

Well, for my son, Santa chose the most perfect set for a boy — the new Beetles & Bugs stamps. And my son let me borrow them to make a card. And a love note is the most obvious thing to make with pictures of bugs, right? Right. So that’s what I did.

I chose a simple layout for my card, a layout that I use quite a bit.

Tips for CASEing (copying) my card:

*The card base is 4.25″x11″, scored and folded at 5.5″. The designer series paper with the Smoky Slate hearts all over it is from the A Little Foxy DSP stack. I love this stack! It’s so versatile. The DSP panel is 3.5″x5.5″.  The Basic Black panel is 1-7/8″, and the Whisper White panel is 1.5″.

*Each beetle is stamped twice. Nope, I didn’t color them in with markers! The black basic bug body is one stamp, and the red portion is another. You stamp the outline first, then stamp the filling, as I think of it. The best part is, the sheet that the stamps are on in the stamp case is numbered to help you figure out which stamps go together.

*The hearts between the bugs are from the Sweet Home stamp set that carried over from the Holiday Catalog. I’m so glad that this stamp set and the matching dies carried over!

*For the sentiment, I used the Labeler Alphabet. My favorite thing to do with this font stamp set is to make up my own puns for my cards because puns are awesome. If you don’t mind your letters being so far apart, I find it easiest to place the letters side by side on the blocks, turn them over and use the lines on your grid paper to line up the edges so they stamp in a straight line. If you want them closer together, you’ll have to eyeball it. I stamped first, then hand-cut the words with my Snips.

*On the inside of the card, I added a piece of Whisper White, then carried over the DSP to tie the card together. I stamped the ladybugs from the same set because the beetles were going to take up too much room on the inside.

Cute stamp set, huh? I wasn’t sure about it until I started thinking of all the puns. “Bugs and kisses.” “Sorry I bugged you.” “Cute as a bug” (baby card or scrapbook page). “Sorry they pulled the bug out from under you.” Okay, that one’s a stretch.
