Hello, and happy Sunday (night)! I hope you’ve had a good weekend. Mine started off with 80 chest-to-ground burpees on Friday, because my trainer is a sadist, and continued to be productive from there. Also, my 6-year-old started softball (t-ball) practices, and she’s just adorable. Her pants were a little big, so she’d take off running the bases, hitching up her pants the whole time. I should have fished out a safety pin, but I was too busy cracking up. I’m that mom.
It’s been a long time since I’ve played along with Freshly Made Sketches, but I really loved this sketch and wanted to play along.
I thought this fun monster from the Yummy in My Tummy stamp set fit perfectly in the sentiment panel, so I decided to flip the sketch and build the card around this guy.
Tips for CASEing this card:
*The card base is 5.5″x4.25″ (half of an 8.5″x11″ sheet of cardstock, flipped landscape-wise and scored in the middle), in Bermuda Bay. The So Saffron layer is only 1/8″ shorter all the way around, and the Cupcakes & Carousels DSP layer is 1/8″ shorter than the So Saffron layer.
*The Cupcakes & Carousels DSP stack is sooo cute and versatile! Perfect for so many occasions.
*This guy! So adorable! I stamped him on Shimmery White cardstock in StazOn ink. I used my Aqua Painter and Bermuda Bay re-inker to paint the monster. I wanted his coloring to come out ombre, so I painted him several times. First I painted the whole monster, then the bottom 3/4, then again the bottom half, and the last time just the bottom 1/4. After he was painted, I covered him in lacquer using the Fine Tip Glue Pen. After he was dry, I cut him out with my snips.
*I ran the black cardstock behind the monster through the Big Shot with the Hexagons Dynamic embossing folder. This folder makes such a deep impression. I love it!
*The sentiment is stamped using the Labeler Alphabet stamp set. I stacked two Dimensionals under the sign, and the monster’s hand is actually between the Dimensionals.
*Hee! My favorite part of the card. I love the Labeler Alphabet. It’s easiest to line up the letters if you start in the middle and work outward. The other words in the sentiment are from the Cottage Greetings stamp set. I used my MISTI to line it up and split up the words.
