Hey there! Sorry, it’s been a few days. I had my Birthday/Thank You card buffet on Saturday, so last week was prep, prep, prep. Then have the event, then CRASH. Then we had a family day at the San Antonio Zoo on Monday. LOVED this zoo! Kids are still coughing their heads off from allergies, but it was nice to get them out of the house and out of town for the day. And my body knew the exact moment we got back to our county, because immediately my allergies freaked out on me.
This was one of the most popular cards at my card buffet. I love this fat chicken! She’s adorable.
Tips for CASEing this card:
*The background paper is from the 2015-2017 In Color Designer Series Paper Stack. If you don’t have these paper stacks, they’re really some of the best deals in the catalog! And such cute patterns.
*I made the chicken wire using the Hexagons Dynamic embossing folder. After embossing the Whisper White cardstock, I lightly sponged on Smoky Slate. I sponged horizontally across the paper, just barely touching the paper with the sponge. You could ink up the embossing folder before running the cardstock through the Big Shot in the folder, but the impressions made by this folder are so deep that sponging the ink on is was the easiest and quickest (and least messy) method.
*I stamped the chicken in StazOn ink, then colored her with the Watercolor Pencils. I outlined her and colored in a few spots with the pencils, then used a Blender Pen to blend the colors. Color these girls any color you want! I used Pacific Point, Pumpkin Pie, and Real Red pencils on this one.
*The ground the chicken is standing on is a stamp from Timeless Textures, stamped in Crumb Cake ink. Then I went in with a Cucumber Crush marker and drew in blades of grass. Just random patches. I made several of these cards after my event Saturday, and the grass is different on every card.
*I stamped the sentiment and punched it out using the Classic Label punch, then snipped off one half of the punched shape.
*The striped paper is the other side of the background paper from the front of the card. The inside sentiment is from the Balloon Adventures stamp set.
