About Me

Sarahfleming1 Hello! My name is Sarah Fleming, and I'm a paper addict living in central Texas. I'm an independent demonstrator for Stampin' Up! and love to teach others how to make lovely paper projects. I always have ink-stained fingers (I'm okay with that). I also knit. If you're in the USA, I'd love to be your demonstrator!

Stampin’ Dreams Blog Hop: CASEing the catalog

Hi, and welcome to the Stampin’ Dreams Blog Hop! This is a monthly hop with Stampin’ Up! friends around the world; you’re currently visiting Sarah Fleming in the USA. This month’s theme is CASEing the catalog. This means we are taking projects shown in the new Annual Catalog and tweaking them to make them our own. CASE = Copy and Share Everything OR Copy and Selectively Edit. This is the card I chose:

Stampin' Up! Message in a Bottle stamp set

I absolutely adore this card! I might have skipped right by the stamp set in the catalog, but this card caught my eye right away, and I had to have this set! I love the card so much that I didn’t change much about it at all.

Stampin' Up! Message in a Bottle and Magical Mermaid stamps with Naturally Eclectic designer series paper - Stampin' Dreams Blog Hop - Sarah Fleming - Prepare to Dye Papercrafts

The card in the catalog is a square card, but I decided to make it into a standard A2-size card. I stamped the sea plants from Magical Mermaid on the Pool Party card base, then turned the card design from the catalog card into a feature on this card.

Stampin' Up! Message in a Bottle and Magical Mermaid stamps with Naturally Eclectic designer series paper - Stampin' Dreams Blog Hop - Sarah Fleming - Prepare to Dye Papercrafts

I used Naturally Eclectic designer series paper as well — after studying all the paper in the catalog and the catalog card, I’m pretty sure that the striped paper on the original card is made with markers. Tip: That is not a full square of Silver Glimmer Paper behind the DSP. Knowing that most of the paper would be hidden, I cut out the middle of the Glimmer Paper to save for a future project. No sense wasting the good stuff!
