About Me

Sarahfleming1 Hello! My name is Sarah Fleming, and I'm a paper addict living in central Texas. I'm an independent demonstrator for Stampin' Up! and love to teach others how to make lovely paper projects. I always have ink-stained fingers (I'm okay with that). I also knit. If you're in the USA, I'd love to be your demonstrator!

Hi Octopus

Welcome to the Ink & Inspiration Blog Hop! We are a small group of Stampin’ Up! demonstrators around the world who love to share our creativity with others. You’re currently visiting Sarah Fleming in the USA.

Our theme for this month is Focus on Tools. I decided to focus on my favorite and probably most essential tool, the Big Shot. And wouldn’t you know, I also ended up using my Heat Tool, Stampin’ Sponges, and Aqua Painters.

This card actually came out of a failed experiment, of which I ended up using only the octopus. I like to salvage what I can from my failures and move on. I’m really happy with how this failure turned out!

The designer paper in the background is from the brand-new Tranquil Textures paper that will be in the new Annual Catalog in June. The center panel is Shimmery White cardstock, which I first embossed with the Softly Falling embossing folder (using the Big Shot). Next I stamped on some texture in Tranquil Tide and Night of Navy using the Sea of Textures stamp set, then watercolored using Aqua Painters and two ink pads — Tranquil Tide and Bermuda Bay.

Behind the octopus is a cargo net cut using the Under the Sea dies that coordinate with the Sea of Textures stamp set. I love this die! For the octopus, I sponged Blackberry Bliss and Coastal Cabana ink onto Shimmery White cardstock, then stamped the octopus and embossed him with Clear Embossing Powder. All the dark blue in and around the octopus is Prussian Blue Brusho (part of the big failure). I cut him out with the die.

The coral on the tag is stamped with Sea of Textures in Mint Macaron, and “HI” is from a new font stamp set called Pick a Pennant. The Blackberry Bliss twine is from Nature’s Twine. The tag is cut out with the Wood Crate framelits.

Awesome card! It is so hard to stick to one tool though isn’t it?
