About Me

Sarahfleming1 Hello! My name is Sarah Fleming, and I'm a paper addict living in central Texas. I'm an independent demonstrator for Stampin' Up! and love to teach others how to make lovely paper projects. I always have ink-stained fingers (I'm okay with that). I also knit. If you're in the USA, I'd love to be your demonstrator!

Graceful Cake

Stampin' Up! handmade birthday card with Blow Out the Candles bundle, Candles & Confetti framelits, Stitched Shapes framelits, Layering Circles framelits, In Color paper stack, coloring with Stampin' Blends alcohol markers, Graceful Glass Vellum - Sarah Fleming - Prepare to Dye Papercrafts

Good morning! I have another Blow Out the Candles card for you today. This is such a fun bundle to play with! This time instead of precision stamping the different cake parts, I colored everything with my blends. But first, the background. I did use my Stamparatus again to stamp the “Happy Birthday” in Lovely Lipstick ink. By using the right-hand plate, I stamped it at the top of the card, then hinge-stepped down, stamped again, moved the plate down another notch, and so on. (Don’t forget to reink your stamp before stamping each time!) Next I glued down a 4″ x 1″ scrap of the 2018-2020 In Color 6×6 designer series paper with the Multipurpose Liquid Glue. I love that Stampin’ Up! has these DSP stacks back for every color family!

My focal point starts with a piece of Granny Apple Green cardstock (I can’t stop with this color, I’m sorry except that I’m not) cut with the Stitched Shapes framelits. On top of that is a piece of Graceful Glass Vellum cut with Layering Circle framelits. I only put adhesive on the middle of the vellum so it wouldn’t show through. You can put the cake upside down on your craft desk, turn the vellum upside down and place it on top of the cake with the cake in position, and then put adhesive on the vellum so it’s sure to be hidden. I stamped the cake in Memento Tuxedo Black ink, then colored it with Lovely Lipstick and Daffodil Delight Blends (light and dark). I colored the flames with the Dark Daffodil Delight marker. I colored the cake stand with Granny Green Blends (light and dark) then put the stand and cake down with Mini Dimensionals.

Before I put the focal piece down with Dimensionals, I attached some Lovely Lipstick 1/8″ Grosgrain Ribbon (this ribbon comes in all five of the new In Colors). I arranged the ribbon, then wrapped Tear & Tape around the middle of it and stuck it down. I finished off the card with Glitter Enamel Dots, which are already colored, and Rhinestones, which I colored with Dark Lovely Lipstick and Dark Granny Green Blends.
