About Me

Sarahfleming1 Hello! My name is Sarah Fleming, and I'm a paper addict living in central Texas. I'm an independent demonstrator for Stampin' Up! and love to teach others how to make lovely paper projects. I always have ink-stained fingers (I'm okay with that). I also knit. If you're in the USA, I'd love to be your demonstrator!

Thinking of Aspens

Stampin' Up! handmade fall autumn card using Winter Woods bundle with In the Woods framelits, Sheltering Tree, Paper Pumpkin sentiment, and Joyous Noel Glimmer Paper - Sarah Fleming - Prepare to Dye Papercrafts - #GDP154

Good morning! I woke up early today (stupid vivid pregnancy dreams waking me up), so I got to make a card. I bought the Winter Woods bundle pretty much for the birch/aspen trees, and I needed a “thinking of you” card. I went to Global Design Project to see if they had a sketch challenge going on (I love their sketches), and they did, so I jumped right in with the sketch.

I used the Stamparatus to make sure I stamped the aspens straight up and down. I inked up the stamp with Soft Suede, and instead of stamping off before stamping to get a lighter color, I just kissed the Simply Shammy to the stamp before stamping. That worked really well! I didn’t push hard, just kind of touched it briefly. I moved the stamp and the cardstock around until I had my little panel of Whisper White cardstock covered. This time of year, I think of Idaho a lot. I adored fall in Idaho, and I really loved the aspens (quaking aspens, as they call them there — they really do quake!). I thought of the aspen trees in our neighborhood that turned bright gold in the fall, so I got out the Sheltering Tree stamp set to stamp leaves around the top halves of the trees. Then I decided to stamp them on the card base as well before gluing down the trees.

I cut the leaves from the copper glimmer paper in the Joyous Noel Glimmer Paper using one of the In the Woods dies (Winter Woods stamps and In the Woods dies can be bought together for 10% off). Some are up on Mini Dimensionals, and some are just glued down. I needed a “thinking of you” card, and remarkably, I don’t have a small “thinking of you” stamp, so I found one of my all-time favorite Paper Pumpkin stamp sets and pulled out this stamp. I stamped it in Cajun Craze and trimmed the banner down to size and flagged it with the Banner Triple Punch. The tiny bow is 3/16″ Braided Linen Trim.
