About Me

Sarahfleming1 Hello! My name is Sarah Fleming, and I'm a paper addict living in central Texas. I'm an independent demonstrator for Stampin' Up! and love to teach others how to make lovely paper projects. I always have ink-stained fingers (I'm okay with that). I also knit. If you're in the USA, I'd love to be your demonstrator!

Good afternoon! Welcome to the 3rd Thursdays Blog Hop! This is a brand new blog hop, and in the future it will be bigger than it is right now, but for today, it’s a short hop! I’m excited to be on this team with several very talented people! Our theme this month is Fall Occasions.

Stampin' Up! handmade fall autumn thank you card using Seasonal Layers thinlits, Stitched Labels framelits, Falling For Leaves stamps with ink smooshing with shimmer paint - 3rd Thursdays Blog Hop - Sarah Fleming - Prepare to Dye Papercrafts

My card started with the bright background. I’d been wanting to pair the Ink Smooshing technique with Shimmer Paint to see how it went. So I used Crushed Curry, Real Red, and Pumpkin Pie reinkers with Vegas Gold Shimmer Paint. I also used Granny Apple Green, but it got hidden by the leaves. :-\ After I had my background, I cut it down to 5-3/8″ x 2-1/16″ and mounted it on a piece of Crushed Curry cardstock (5-1/2″ x 2-1/8″). Then I embossed a piece of Whisper White cardstock with the Cable Knit embossing folder. After all, it’s sweater weather! I glued down the embossed piece to the Thick Whisper White card base first, then glued the background on top of it.

You might be able to see the gold shimmer paint a little better here.

The branch is cut from Gray Granite cardstock, and the leaves are cut from Pumpkin Pie, Real Red, Whisper White, and Gold Glimmer paper. I did remember to use the adhesive sheets before running the detailed dies through the Big Shot this time (all of the dies used here except the branch and the solid leaves work best with the Precision Base Plate). I stamped the sentiment (from Falling For Leaves) in Real Red, then cut it out with a Stitched Labels framelit. This card frustrated me, but I love how it turned out in the end.

Thanks for stopping by today! Make sure you follow the hop all the way through! You’re currently at Sarah Fleming’s blog (in the USA), and next is Kim Fee in the UK.
