3rd Thursdays: Little Elephant

Good afternoon! Welcome to the 3rd Thursdays Blog Hop! This is a pretty new blog hop, and in the future it will be bigger than it is right now, but for today, it’s a short hop! I’m excited to be on this team with several very talented people! Our theme this month is Gratitude, which was perfect timing for me. Our homeschool co-op surprised me with a diaper shower during our open house this week. I was/am overwhelmed with the whole thing. Anyway, I made a baby boy-themed thank you card, and that is what I’m showing you today.

My card starts with a Blueberry Bushel card base. This is a book fold card, so it’s 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″, scored at 4-1/4″. I added a piece of Twinkle Twinkle designer series paper, 3-3/16″ x 5″. I cut a piece of Whisper White cardstock and first stamped the little blanket-looking feature in Balmy Blue (the thing that the elephants are standing on). I added a strip of Blueberry Bushel DSP from the 2018-2020 In Color DSP Stack (3-3/16″ x 3/4″). I stamped the elephants in Blueberry Bushel and Balmy Blue, then punched both out with the Elephant Builder Punch (separately). I also stamped the Thank You in Balmy Blue and fussy cut it with snips. I didn’t add the elephants or the Thank You heart to the card yet but did place them where I wanted them so I would know where to stamp the little heart clusters.

I stamped the heart clusters in Balmy Blue, then popped the elephants up on Dimensionals on the card. I tied the Whisper White Baker’s Twine around the mama elephant’s trunk and hid the end of the twine behind her with a glue dot. I placed the heart down to determine how long I needed my twine, then snipped it off and tacked the end down to the back of the heart with a glue dot and a Dimensional, then added the heart to the card. I added a little bow to the front of the balloon, then added Twinkle Adhesive-Backed Sequins to finish off the card.

On the inside I added a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Whisper White and a strip of the same Twinkle Twinkle DSP from the front of the card.

Thanks for stopping by today! Make sure you follow the hop all the way through! You’re currently at Sarah Fleming’s blog (in the USA), and next is my friend Angie McKenzie (also in the USA).
