Petals & Parcels Sneak Peek

Stampin' Up! handmade thank you card using Parcels & Petals stamp set, watercolor emboss resist - masculine card - Stitched Nested Labels dies - Sarah Fleming - Prepare to Dye Papercrafts

Hey there! We have a fun masculine cards challenge going on over at Stamp, Ink, Paper this week! We’d love for you to join us, so please head over to the design team blog to play along!

My older son’s t-ball team had some great coaches this year (and last year, for that matter, but I was probably too tired to make cards last year). The head coach was kind of drafted into it but had to leave town for half the season after the first game, so one of the kids’ grandfathers stepped in to take over. We were very appreciative that he stepped in, so I made him a special card. (BTW, my husband was an assistant coach, and seeing him and our son in matching shirts on game days always hit me right in the feels.)

  • Card base: Blueberry Bushel, 4-1/4″ x 11″, scored at 5-1/2″. I stamped the repeating lotus background from the Parcels & Petals stamp set (coming June 4th, available now for demonstrators, including in Starter Kits) on the card base in Blueberry Bushel ink. I tried to move the stamp over by two columns each time I stamped the lotuses.
  • Funky oblong diamond thingy: I stamped the repeating lotus background  several times in Versamark ink on watercolor paper. Again, I moved the stamp over by two columns each time I stamped the lotuses. Covered in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder, then melted the powder with the Heat Tool. Then I covered the watercolor paper in water, then dropped Granny Apple Green onto various parts of the paper with an Aqua Painter. After the Granny Apple Green dried, I wetted the paper again, then dropped on Blueberry Bushel ink. After everything dried, I cut out the shape with a Stitched Nested Labels die (coming June 4th).

  • I added Dimensionals to the back of the watercolor paper, then positioned it over the card base, trying to line up the lotus flowers between the base and the watercolor piece.
  • I stamped the sentiment on a 5/8″ piece of Whisper White in Blueberry Bushel. Flagged the right end with the Banner Triple Punch, then popped the sentiment up on Dimensionals (double-stacked where the sentiment doesn’t overlap the watercolor paper). I finished the card off with some Glitter Enamel Dots.
