Good morning! Sorry to be so silent on the blog lately, but just as I was getting over the flu that Santa put in my stocking, my little guy and I picked up a nasty cold. So basically I’ve been sick since Christmas Day. Blerg. I’m still hanging on to a cough and a sore throat, but I’m getting better. I’ve made several cards and am finally getting back to my scrapbooking, so I hope to get back to regular-ish posting and show you what I’ve been doing around here.
Today’s card is for the new challenge at Dynamic Duos. This week is our Subtly Yours challenge, and the colors are Pink Pirouette (my favorite pink!) and Pool Party. I looove this color combination! It works for babies, weddings, Valentine’s Day, birthdays… I’m pretty sure I could make a non-traditional Christmas card with it, too.
I decided to make a Valentines-y lover card, because my husband was in Boston for work most of the week, and when he got home Thursday, I wanted to give him an I-missed-you card. I signed it with something like “I’m so glad you’re home. Please never leave again.” I don’t really like it when he’s gone. :)
I can’t decide which part of this card is my favorite. The new Gold Foil Vellum just knocks my socks off (it also comes in silver!). I adhered it to the Whisper White card base using Glue Dots behind each polka dot so no adhesive shows through. I just got the Countless Sayings photopolymer stamps this week (I got both sets – I used Countless Sayings 2 on this card) and couldn’t wait to use them! They’re brilliant sets, and I have big plans for them. :) By the way, Stampin’ Up! announced this week that the photopolymer stamps are here to stay and will be added to the next Annual Catalog. *Snoopy dance*
The shredded flags are another of my favorite parts. I used the new Banner framelits from the Occasions catalog — I’ve been waiting so long for these, just wishing and hoping! And they’re finally here! After I cut the banners out with the framelits, I shredded them with the new Fringe Scissors. These scissors are perfect for making grass in landscape designs and also perfect for just adding some extra texture. I was going for an off-center card, so I didn’t line up my flag centers. I curled up the ends of the flags using my bone folder.
And then there are the Starburst framelits, also new and fantastic. And the matching starburst wood cut from the Essentials Wooden Elements — I love these wonderful little embellishments from the Occasions catalog! I added the wood cut to the card using Crystal Effects, which is the best glue for holding on heavy embellishments. After stamping “Forever” on a scrap of WW cardstock, I flagged each end using the Hexagon punch, then glued it to the wood cut. I could also have stamped directly on the wood cut, but I liked the contrast.
I added lots of fun little embellishments (ahem, can you tell I got a big shipment of Occasions goodies this week? I’m using ALL THE THINGS). Two buttons from the Subtles Designer Buttons collection, two chevrons punched out of Champagne Glimmer paper with the Chevron Border punch, and that double bow of the yummy new Gold Baker’s Twine. It’s a vanilla twine with gold foil wrapped around it — and it also comes in silver. Love it.
I hope you like my card and that it inspires you, in some way, to play along with the challenge! The other designers have made some fabulous cards, so go see what they have for you, too! I’ll be back tomorrow with my January Stamp-of-the-Month Club cards.

I don’t watch or read Game of Thrones, but I’m a geek with a geek husband, so I thought the title was appropriate. :)
This week at Dynamic Duos, we have a pair of subtle colors. Anyone else have a hard time using more muted colors? They are not my strength! And that’s why it’s called a “challenge”!
I actually started with the non-Artichoke, non-Crumb Cake embossed tree. I didn’t mean to start with the metallics, but I had just finished a Christmas cards and tags class where we had embossed this tree in Gold, and I reeeeeally wanted to use it.
My sentiment (stamped in Always Artichoke) is from the Christmas Tagables photopolymer set that came out last month to accompany the Pop ‘n’ Place easy gift tags. I love so many of the stamps in this set, and it coordinates with so many punches and framelits, so I’ve been using it a lot. I cropped the sentiment with the 7/8″ Scalloped Circle punch, then added a Vintage Trinket and popped it up on a 1″ Circle of Always Artichoke paper from the Regals DSP stack.
That wonderful birch paper is from the Thanksgiving Tablescapes kit, and I can’t get enough of it. One thing about that paper, though — it has so much texture that it’s hard to actually adhere using something like a tape runner, so I’d recommend using the Tombow Multipurpose Liquid Glue or maybe Crystal Effects. I haven’t tried either on it, but I know that my little strip is trying to come off my card already, so I’ll need to figure it out before I can mail it! Have you used it? What adhesive did you use?
That beautiful snowflake is cut from Champagne Glimmer Paper using two of the framelits from the Festive Flurry set. My final touch is a Very Vintage Button accented with Linen Thread.
I hope you like my card. Head on over to Dynamic Duos and the other design team blogs to see the fun, festive, and beautiful cards the other designers have come up with. And please play along — I can’t wait to see your designs! Thanks for stopping by, and have a great Saturday!

Hello, and welcome to Prepare to Dye! This is my first post as part of the new Dynamic Duos Design Team, and I’m excited to share a fun, bright card with you! I’m sure many of you are here for the first time, so thanks for stopping by. I hope you’ll come back.
This week’s challenge colors are Real Red and Bermuda Bay. I’m a Brights Color Collection lover, so this is my kind of color combination.
I actually started with the embellishments on this card. When I saw Real Red and Bermuda Bay, I went looking through my ribbon, and I had the 1/8″ Taffeta Ribbon in both colors. Which meant that I had to use that ribbon. And, oh, I also have it in silver, so I figured I should throw that in there, too. And the colors are Christmasy, so tiny ribbons scream tiny ornaments. And that’s how I decided on the Mosaic Punch and the ornament from the Very Merry Tags stamp set.
While I think there can never be enough red (my favorite color), I think there is a limit to the amount of Bermuda Bay you should see in one sitting, or you can burn your pupils. ;-) So I added the white panel (for this, I cut a 4″ x 5-1/4″ mat and then cut it in half on the diagonal with my Stampin’ Trimmer) and embossed it with the Modern Mosaic folder.
I love shiny things on my cards and can’t really get enough of the Glimmer Paper, so I added a strip of that and then two tiny strips of the Silver Foil paper.
The sentiment is also from Very Merry Tags. I punched it out with the 7/8″ Scalloped Circle punch and popped it up on a Mosaic and added the silver ribbon to tie everything together.
I hope you like the card. I’d love to see what you do with the challenge, so head on over and play, and see what the other amazing designers did with this challenge!
