Good morning! What is on your agenda for the day? I still have some decorations to put up, ha!, and I haven’t even started addressing Christmas cards. They’re all made — 88 of them — but the letter isn’t written, and the labels aren’t printed, and my hand hasn’t started cramping from all the signing. Meanwhile, we got snowed in at my MIL’s last night, because we had about 3 inches of snow in a 2-hour period and didn’t want to drive home at night in Christmas traffic in fresh snow.
This week’s challenge at Dynamic Duos is a Black Tie event — use Basic Black and Cherry Cobbler, with the dessert *option* of sparkle. Well, you know if I have an option of sparkle, I’m taking the option! I love glitter and shiny, in case that isn’t clear.
My card base is Basic Black. I embossed the Cherry Cobbler panel with the Perfect Polka Dots folder, then punched the stars out using the Merry Minis punch pack.
For the shiny background strip, I just punched a bunch of circles out of Silver Glimmer Paper using the 3/4″, 1/2″, and 1″ Circle punches and glued them to the background using Tombow Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue. Then I stamped a ton of stars from the Simply Stars stamp set in Cherry Cobbler ink on Whisper White cardstock. I stamped some of the stars before I re-inked my pad and some after re-inking. I also sponged around the edges of each star for extra depth, and I liked the effect of that. Unfortunately, we don’t have coordinating star punches or framelits, so these are all fussy-cut. Yeah, it took a while, but it was worth it.
My sentiment is from More Merry Messages, stamped in Jet Black StazOn then cut out with a Bitty Banners framelit. I layered that on a banner of Season of Style paper, which I cut out using one of the accessory thinlits that come with the Circle Card thinlits dies.
I added a few sequins and couple of rhinestones to finish off the card.
Head on over to the Dynamic Duos blog to see the rest of the design team’s fabulous samples. I think everyone did a fantastic job this week! And we’d love to see what you make, so please play along!

Hi, everyone! I have a busy day today, so I’m just posting quickly. This card is for the Freshly Made Sketches challenge and the Dynamic Duos color challenge — I’m in Christmas mode right now, so even using So Saffron and Calypso Coral, I couldn’t resist a Christmas card. I’d like it noted for the record that I managed to make a card with NO Dimensionals. :) I hope you have a great day! And I hope I survive our playgroup combined birthday party today! ;-)

Hey there! Quick post today, as I have a busy day doing a little consignment shopping for the kiddos, taking the little man for his 4 month checkup (how did THAT happen so fast?), and working to get my Stamp-of-the-Month Club packages out on time.
I made this sunburst card for the Freshly Made Sketches challenge.
I’ve never made a sunburst before, so it was fun to try a new technique. I first made the sunburst, attaching all of the Season of Style paper triangles to a piece of scrap paper with my tape runner. Then I trimmed the excess paper off. I cut the square out of the center using one of the Squares Collection framelits. Then I cut the sunburst into four sections to go with the sketch. I think next time I will use a piece of scrap cardstock instead of printer paper to attach my sunburst to. You can’t tell from the picture, but it felt flimsy attaching it to the card.
I embossed the sentiment in Gold on Whisper White cardstock and also embossed “MERRY” in Cherry Cobbler and cut it out in a banner shape. I cut out the sentiment using one of the Chalk Talk framelits (love this set of framelits, so many great shapes!). The stars are punched out of Champagne Glimmer Paper using the Merry Minis punch pack.
The card base is Old Olive, and I made a 5×5 square card. Now that I have my new Envelope Punch Board and can make any size envelope I want (well, 66 sizes), that means I can also make any size card I want.
I hope you like the card. I had fun making it.

Fall has arrived in Idaho! And on time. It’s my favorite season of all — I would not complain if it were fall all year round. And even though I love fall for itself, part of my love for it is all of the Christmas planning it involves. And Christmas card making! You will probably start seeing a lot of Christmas cards on this blog in the next few weeks. They’re my favorite cards to make; in fact, I could make only Christmas cards and be a very happy camper.
I used the sketch at Fab Friday for this card.
I used the Bracket Label punch to punch out the Silver Foil shapes. I stamped the smallest snowflake from the Festive Flurry stamp set in Versamark ink, then embossed with Silver embossing powder, and cut out with the Festive Flurry framelits. I then punched 3/4″ Circles out of Silver Glimmer paper and punched each of the shapes from the Merry Minis punch pack out of Red Glimmer paper. I used Dimensionals between each layer.
I embossed the sentiment from the Tags 4 You set in Silver and punched it out using the Bracket Label, then punched a label out of Red Glimmer paper and cut that in half to frame the sentiment. The silver button is retired but is available on the Clearance Rack right now (item #129325) while supplies last. This is one of my all-time favorite buttons.
