February Paper Pumpkin

Hey! Sorry I’ve been absent for so long, over a week. We’ve had a whirlwind month. We have one kid in softball and one in t-ball, so we’ve had practice and/or games almost every day for the past week and a half or so. Plus we’re back in our homeschool co-op, etc., etc. And I’ve actually been going to bed at a reasonable hour, so that means no blogging. Expect me to continue being sporadic until after Stampin’ Up!’s OnStage convention in early April.

I’m guilty of letting those Paper Pumpkin boxes pile up and doing them months later (anyone else out there??). But I loved this month’s bright colors and delicate flower stamps so much that I got it out and played with it right away. This kit contains supplies for 9 cards and includes 9 envelopes lined with gorgeous wildflower paper (I would very much like a whole pack of this paper — it’s GORJ.) First I made one of each of the cards as intended in the kit. Then I played around with it.

These are the cards in the kit. You would make three of each. But I only made one of each. I love these cards as they are, but I really like more contrast than this in my cards, so I knew I had to change things up a little.

This is my first alternate project. I swapped out the Sahara Sand card base for a Thick Whisper White base, used the patterned paper as a background, stamped flowers from the kit stamp set in Melon Mambo ink on the background, used the wildflower label (heart eyes emoji), stickers, and vellum cutouts from the kit, and made the sentiment label using Whisper White cardstock, stamps from the kit, the Banner Triple Punch, and ink in Crushed Curry, Tempting Turquoise, Perfect Plum, and Melon Mambo.

I’m not sure why, but this is my favorite of my alternate cards. Everything except the label is from the kit, and for the label I only added Whisper White cardstock, Perfect Plum ink, and the Banner Triple Punch.

My last alternate uses the kit plus a Thick Whisper White card base, Whisper White cardstock, the Just Add Text stamp set, Perfect Plum and Garden Green ink, the Big Shot, and the Stitched Shapes framelits.

This may be my all-time favorite Paper Pumpkin kit!

Heartfelt Trio

Good evening! I hope you’re doing well. I had a weird weekend. I somehow injured my foot in my sleep, as you do. I was seriously hobbled all weekend (it’s better but not completely). Plus I had two sick kids and t-ball practice, and my dog killed a baby bunny in the back yard, so… meh. Weird weekend. I guess you can say I was glad to see Monday. At co-op today I got two new students in my knitting class — an extra kid, plus a mom who wants to learn to knit. We had a lot of fun in class and were shocked when the bell rang to end class. Time flies.

Stampin' Up! Heartfelt Blooms with washi tape - Sale-A-Bration freebie stamp set with $50 purchase through March 31 - Sarah Fleming - Prepare to Dye Papercrafts

For today’s post, I made a trio of cards using the Heartfelt Blooms stamp set, some ribbon, and some washi tape. Heartfelt Blooms is one of the Sale-A-Bration stamp sets. You can only get these stamps for FREE with a $50 purchase — you can’t buy them. This flower stamp is the first of a new type of stamp patented by Stampin’ Up! The details are amazing.

The main colors I used were Flirty Flamingo, Garden Green (gasp!), and Rich Razzleberry. I used the same layout and design for each card and simply changed up the ribbon and the washi tape.

Stampin' Up! Heartfelt Blooms - Sale-A-Bration freebie with $50 purchase - Basics Pack 1 washi tape, Lemon Lime Twist 3/8" Mini Striped Ribbon - handmade sympathy get well card - Sarah Fleming - Prepare to Dye Papercrafts

For the Flirty Flamingo card, I used the Lemon-Lime Twist 3/8″ Mini Striped Ribbon and Basics Pack 1 washi tape.

Stampin' Up! Heartfelt Blooms - Sale-A-Bration freebie with $50 purchase - Basics Pack 2 washi tape, Crumb Cake Classic Weave Ribbon - handmade sympathy get well card - Sarah Fleming - Prepare to Dye Papercrafts

For the Garden Green card, I used Crumb Cake 3/8″ Classic Weave Ribbon. This ribbon is so lovely and feels so nice.

Stampin' Up! Heartfelt Blooms - Sale-A-Bration freebie with $50 purchase - Basics Pack 1 washi tape, Shimmer Ribbon Pack - Free Sale-A-Bration item with purchase - handmade sympathy get well card - Sarah Fleming - Prepare to Dye Papercrafts

The Rich Razzleberry card is my favorite. I think I have exactly the right amount of ink on my Rich Razzleberry ink pad to make the flowers burst off the card. I used Basics Pack 1 washi tape on this one, plus the FREE Sale-A-Bration Shimmer Ribbon pack (free with $50 purchase). The ribbon comes in three different widths and three different colors – Calypso Coral, Basic Gray, and Bermuda Bay. It’s delicious.

Everything I used on my cards can be found in my online Stampin’ Up! store. Make sure to use the February Host Code (below) if your order is below $150, and I’ll send you extra goodies! If your order is over $150, make sure to claim your Stampin’ Rewards when you check out, and you’ll still get my free gift!

Stampin' Up! Friendship's Sweetest Thoughts with Hold On to Hope, Myths & Magic Glimmer Paper, Sale-A-Bration Shimmer Ribbon Pack (free with $50 purchase), Stampin' Write Markers - Sarah Fleming - Prepare to Dye Papercrafts

My first card is a card I made for a recent swap with other demonstrators. The background is stamped with a floral flourish from the Hold On to Hope stamp set. The flower cart comes from Friendship’s Sweetest Thoughts, and I colored it with Stampin’ Write Markers. I also sponged Lemon-Lime Twist around the flowers before I colored them in.

Stampin' Up! Friendship's Sweetest Thoughts with Hold On to Hope, Myths & Magic Glimmer Paper, Sale-A-Bration Shimmer Ribbon Pack (free with $50 purchase), Stampin' Write Markers - Sarah Fleming - Prepare to Dye Papercrafts

The sentiment is from Friendship’s Sweetest Thoughts. What a sweet message to send to a friend! The ribbon is FREE Sale-A-Bration ribbon (with $50 order), and the glimmer paper is from the Myths & Magic Glimmer Paper. One thing about gluing things down on top of Glimmer Paper — you need to use hot glue or the Fine Tip Glue Pen or the Multipurpose Liquid Glue and allow a long drying time. What I did for the swap cards was I put the Glimmer Paper banner underneath the flower cart layer, then attached the ribbon and sentiment on top of the flower cart layer. That takes a lot less time!

Stampin' Up! Celebrate You thinlits (free with $100 purchase during Sale-A-Bration), Hello Color, Brusho Crystal Colour, emboss resist handmade celebration card - Sarah Fleming - Prepare to Dye Papercrafts

My second card is in a completely different direction and a different style. I can never settle on my own personal style, because I love them all. I heat embossed the Hello Color stamp from the Annual Catalog, then sprinkled Brusho Crystals on top of the embossed area, then spritzed. I used Prussian Blue, Brilliant Red, and Yellow. Look how many wonderful colors and shades you can get from a few sprinkles and a quick spritzing! Brusho is one of my very favorite products from the new Occasions Catalog.

Stampin' Up! Celebrate You thinlits (free with $100 purchase during Sale-A-Bration), Hello Color, Brusho Crystal Colour, emboss resist handmade celebration card - Sarah Fleming - Prepare to Dye Papercrafts

The “celebrate” sentiment is die cut from Shimmery White cardstock using the Celebrate You thinlits (free with $100 purchase during Sale-A-Bration). After I cut it out, I sprinkled on Prussian Blue and Brilliant Red Brusho crystals, then spritzed the die cut. And this is how it turned out! I love that you never know what you will get with Brusho.

Thank you for hopping through today! Make sure to visit every blog in the hop!

Happy Hooray

Good morning! Sorry I’ve been absent for a few days. It has been an emotional whirlwind of a week. My Papa, a 95-year-old World War II vet and our hero, passed away late Monday night, and as you can imagine, that’s what our whole life was about last week. We buried him Friday, and in west Texas style, they buried him in the wrong place and had to dig him up and re-bury him. We are choosing to laugh about it, because he would have laughed about it.

I am still catching up on everything. My mom is in town (she had planned to come last Monday, but obviously we were all in west Texas together), so I am likely to be a little spotty with daily blogging this week, or at least I’ll be posting at weird times.

Stampin' Up! Party Hat Birthday - Occasions 2018 - Sarah Fleming - Prepare to Dye Papercrafts

This Party Hat birthday card is so easy to make and comes together so fast. I first stamped in Real Red, then in Pool Party, and finally in Lemon-Lime Twist. I love this three-step stamp. I think it will look even better when I have my Stamparatus (which arrives in about 3 weeks, yay!!) and can place the stamps perfectly. I also stamped the hat trim in Lemon-Lime Twist.

Stampin' Up! Party Hat Birthday - Occasions 2018 - Sarah Fleming - Prepare to Dye Papercrafts

I stamped the “Happy Birthday” banner outline in Pool Party and the “Happy Birthday” in Real Red, then cut the banner out with the Party Hat Builder framelits. For the little side banner, I first stuck on a piece of Myths & Magic washi tape (I have to say, my washi taping is a little bit on point lately), then stamped “HOORAY” in Real Red and flagged the end with the Banner Triple Punch. I stapled the banner to the washi tape and card front with a mini stapler. Important: Staple on your banner before you attach the card front to the card base.
