Happiest of Birthdays

Stampin' Up! Picture Perfect Birthday with Picture Perfect Party paper, Myths & Magic Glimmer Paper - handmade birthday card - Sarah Fleming - Prepare to Dye Papercrafts

Hey there! Super quick post for you tonight. The card base is Berry Burst, and the fun party paper is the Picture Perfect Party paper. The glimmer paper (GORJ!) is Myths & Magic Glimmer Paper, which comes in three colors. The sentiment is from Picture Perfect Birthday. The big bow looks like a real 3D bow, doesn’t it? I snipped that out of the Picture Perfect Party paper and popped it up on Dimensionals. Cool, right? I finished off the front with Iridescent Sequins.

The sentiment and bow on the inside of the card are both from Picture Perfect Birthday. The sentiment is stamped in Lemon-Lime Twist. For the bow, I stamped the main parts in Peekaboo Peach (stamped off once) and the shadows in Peekaboo Peach (not stamped off).

Priceless Friend

Hello, stamping friends! Happy Saturday! We’re having a pretty low-key day, just hanging around the house and cleaning. My husband is working on the Little Passports boxes with the kids (they got subscriptions for Christmas), and I’ve finished deep-cleaning one room. Just 10 or so to go!

I made today’s card using the sketch from this week’s Stamp Ink Paper challenge. Great sketch!

Stampin' Up! You're Priceless with Eclectic Layers Thinlits and Brusho on Glossy Cardstock - handmade friend or thank you card - Sarah Fleming - Prepare to Dye Papercrafts

I’ve just recently gotten this stamp set, and I see so many possibilities with it. I can’t wait to color it with my Blends. But this time, I used Brusho for the background. Totally gaga over this look! This was my first time to play with Brusho on Glossy White Cardstock. You get a much different look here from using Brusho on Watercolor Paper! I’m getting so many different looks from this one product and just having so much fun. Obsessed. I used the Prussian Blue and Brilliant Red and spritzed liberally with water. I love how the outside areas look more spritzy (totally a word), and the middle looks more solid. But look at the color variation, even in the middle!

I embossed the diamonds all over the background with Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder. I also die cut one diamond out of Silver Foil Sheets using the Eclectic Layers thinlits (which are actually available in a bundle with the Oh So Eclectic stamps, or separately if you prefer). The Night of Navy circle is punched with the 2″ circle punch. I embossed the sentiment and flagged it with the Banner Triple Punch.

I had fun with the ribbons. I pulled apart the Sweet Sugarplum 3/8″ Striped Grosgrain ribbon and tied the threads in a knot. Then I took the Basic Gray ribbon that comes in the free Sale-A-Bration ribbon pack and pulled on a few threads to get it to cinch up like this. I threaded that ribbon through the loophole in the other one and glue dotted them to the card. Fun!

Inside, I added a piece of Whisper White cardstock and embossed one more diamond on it.

Stampin' Up! Beautiful Day with Petal Palette paper, Sunshine & Rainbows sentiment, and Stampin' Blends - handmade friend or birthday card - Sarah Fleming - Prepare to Dye Papercrafts

Good morning! I hope you had a good weekend. I did *not* get my Christmas stuff swapped out for Valentine’s Day. I worked on the budget instead.

Stampin' Up! Beautiful Day with Petal Palette paper, Sunshine & Rainbows sentiment, and Stampin' Blends - handmade friend or birthday card - Sarah Fleming - Prepare to Dye Papercrafts

This huge butterfly comes from the new Beautiful Day stamp set. This butterfly is perfect for a little Stained Glass Technique, or using with Brusho, but I decided to just color it with my Stampin’ Blends. The sentiment comes from the new Sunshine & Rainbows stamp set, and the designer series paper in the background is the GORGEOUS new Petal Palette paper.

Rather than tell you which colors I used where, I figured it’d be better to make a little graphic.

Stampin' Up! Bird Banter - handmade friend card - Delightful Daisy & Coffee Break paper - Sarah Fleming - Prepare to Dye Papercrafts #GDP120

Good evening! I hope you’re having a great weekend and have some craft time carved out sometime this weekend. I’m determined to finally get our Christmas stuff down and decorate for Valentine’s Day, so I don’t know if I will get to craft much. But I’m sure I’ll try to sneak it in!

Today I decided to play along with Global Design Project’s Case the Designer challenge. The challenge is to CASE this amazing card by Krista Frattin. It’s ultra-feminine and beautiful, and I somehow ended up with a kinda masculine card. I’m not quite sure how that happened! That’s what happens when you CASE, though. I used her layout, though I turned my card to landscape, and I went with lots of layers. Everything else is TOTALLY different.

Stampin' Up! Bird Banter - handmade friend card - Delightful Daisy & Coffee Break paper - Sarah Fleming - Prepare to Dye Papercrafts #GDP120

This was my first play with the adorable Bird Banter stamp set. I knew I wanted two birds facing each other on one branch, because I really wanted to use this sentiment. I stamped the branch in Soft Suede. I decided to paint the leaves using Brusho, though really it came out kind of Old Olive, so I could have just used my Old Olive Blends. I used a plastic painter’s tray to mix colors and used one tap of Prussian Blue crystals and about six taps of Yellow crystals, then mixed them with water. I painted the leaves with this mixture, but I used as little water as possible, because I was painting on regular Whisper White. After it dried, I went back in and added a tiny bit of paint to the center point of each leaf.

I masked off the branch before stamping the birds. I colored the Macaw with Stampin’ Blends in Cherry Cobbler (Light & Dark), Night of Navy (Light & Dark), and Daffodil Delight (Light & Dark). I colored in the bottom half of the beak with a Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker. I used the Light Smoky Slate to color the edges of the white parts of his face and beak, then I used the Color Lifter to really soften the Smoky Slate and blend it out. I added a few shadows around the outside edge with the Light Smoky Slate and used the Color Lifter the same way. To color the cockatoo, I used Light & Dark Daffodil Delight on his comb and carried the Light Daffodil down into his face, then smoothed out the edges with the Color Lifter. I used Light & Dark Pumpkin Pie on his wing and tail feathers. His beak is done with Light Night of Navy and Light Smoky Slate. Then I added shadows with Light Smoky Slate and the Color Lifter. Finally, I shaded under the branch with Light Smoky Slate.

The rest of the card is designer series paper (green background – Delightful Daisy, Soft Sky circle – Coffee Break, wood-look banner – Wood Textures).
