Hey! In my Facebook Live video this morning, I made this and several other cards, featuring the designer series paper that is on sale for the month of October. I’ll be posting the others throughout the week, but you can see them all in the video below. Make sure to subscribe to my YouTube channel while you’re watching and like my Facebook page (and turn on notifications) if you’d like to see me live on Tuesdays.
You can find all the supplies I used to make the cards in my online Stampin’ Up! store. Make sure to use the host code (see below) when you shop so you get extra freebies from me. I’ll be posting the supply lists for the other cards throughout the week, so make sure to come back for those.
Good morning! I decided to participate in a sketch challenge this week over at Stamp, Ink, Paper, and I knew right away what I wanted to use. The Oh, So Succulent bundle is RETIRING (I’m still in shock after almost 2 weeks), and I just got it! In fact, I knew it was retiring before I even opened my shipment, which arrived while I was at OnStage. I think everyone was surprised by this one.
I loved this sketch!
My card starts with a Calypso Coral base, 4.25″x11″, scored at 5.5″. I used the Succulent Garden designer series paper for a mat, then added the slanted piece from the same paper pack, bordered by Smoky Slate cardstock. If you want this DSP, get it now! It will sell out soon. I wasn’t remotely interested in this paper, and then I got it free during Sale-A-Bration. I’m so glad I did — it is GORGEOUS in person.
This is my very favorite part of the card. I cut 3 different sizes of flowers using the dies. On the largest flower, I stamped the little decoration in Versamark and embossed it with Gold embossing powder and my Heat Tool. For the other two flowers, I sponged the tips of each flower with Whisper White Craft ink. As you will see in my last photo, be careful with this ink until it dries — I smudged mine, of course!
I put dimensionals in the center of each flower between the layers, then added a Gold Faceted Gem (coming June 1 for customers!) to the center of the top flower. I LOVE these as flower centers.
I added Gold Thread behind the flower and tacked it down to the card with just the Dimensional on the back of the succulent. I added some Liquid Glue to the back of the Dimensional and thread, just to make sure it all stayed on the card.
I stamped the sentiment from the Oh So Succulent stamp set on Whisper White, then flagged the end with the Triple Banner Punch and glued it down.
Here’s the inside of the card.
I have both a mother and a mother-in-law, so I made two. :)
Thanks for stopping by today! You can buy all the items to make this card (the retiring products are while supplies last) in my online store. Links are below. NOTE: If you want the Oh So Succulent bundle, I recommend buying the stamps and dies separately. The bundle is $48.50, but individually they’re deeply discounted right now, so if you buy them separately, they are only $32.25 altogether. I can’t believe how amazing this deal is. The whole bundle for the less than the original price of the dies. You’re basically getting the stamps for free! Also, the paper is 40% off right now.
Ha, yes, those words actually went through my head as I was making this card. “Just tone it down with a little bit of Crushed Curry, the world’s most intense yellow.”
I’m SO happy with the new In Colors that Stampin’ Up! is coming out with in June. My two favorites are Lemon-Lime Twist and Berry Burst (both used in this card), though I actually love all five of them, and that might be the first time that’s happened for me.
When I saw the new Global Design Project challenge this week, I felt really special. “They made a challenge to cater specifically to ME?? How NICE of them!”
I’m always astounded that people can make pretty cards without some kind of bling. Not me! But there are people who do it.
I used the (coming soon) Fresh Florals designer series paper stack for my background on this card. Both of these gorgeous papers are in the stack. This will probably be my go-to paper for the next year. It’s SO lovely. I’ve already chopped up a lot of it to have it ready to go for cardfronts. I wanted a little border between the two pieces, so I stuck in a 1/4″-inch strip of Lemon-Lime Twist cardstock. I stamped the sentiment, from the All Things Thanks stamp set, directly on the DSP. I outlined that with a frame cut out of Berry Burst cardstock with the two largest scalloped circles in the Layering Circles framelits. I popped up the frame on a Foam Strip.
The Crushed Curry ribbon is new 3/8″ Chevron Ribbon (available June 1 to customers). I wrapped the ribbon around the left edge of the main card design. Why? Because even though I used a MISTI, I still managed to stamp my sentiment off-center. Natch.
The Glitter Enamel Dots may be my favorite new embellishment in the new catalog. The colors I used here are Berry Burst, Old Olive (the lighter shades work for Lemon-Lime Twist), and Crushed Curry. Aren’t they purty? They also come in Dapper Denim.
I put another strip of this gorgeous paper inside the card.
So that’s my card. Thanks for coming by! Most of the products I’ve shown won’t be available until June 1 for customers (demonstrators can order select products May 2), but the ones you can get now are listed below, with links to my store. Make sure that you use my Host Code when you order so you get extra goodies from me!
