Priceless Friend

Hello, stamping friends! Happy Saturday! We’re having a pretty low-key day, just hanging around the house and cleaning. My husband is working on the Little Passports boxes with the kids (they got subscriptions for Christmas), and I’ve finished deep-cleaning one room. Just 10 or so to go!

I made today’s card using the sketch from this week’s Stamp Ink Paper challenge. Great sketch!

Stampin' Up! You're Priceless with Eclectic Layers Thinlits and Brusho on Glossy Cardstock - handmade friend or thank you card - Sarah Fleming - Prepare to Dye Papercrafts

I’ve just recently gotten this stamp set, and I see so many possibilities with it. I can’t wait to color it with my Blends. But this time, I used Brusho for the background. Totally gaga over this look! This was my first time to play with Brusho on Glossy White Cardstock. You get a much different look here from using Brusho on Watercolor Paper! I’m getting so many different looks from this one product and just having so much fun. Obsessed. I used the Prussian Blue and Brilliant Red and spritzed liberally with water. I love how the outside areas look more spritzy (totally a word), and the middle looks more solid. But look at the color variation, even in the middle!

I embossed the diamonds all over the background with Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder. I also die cut one diamond out of Silver Foil Sheets using the Eclectic Layers thinlits (which are actually available in a bundle with the Oh So Eclectic stamps, or separately if you prefer). The Night of Navy circle is punched with the 2″ circle punch. I embossed the sentiment and flagged it with the Banner Triple Punch.

I had fun with the ribbons. I pulled apart the Sweet Sugarplum 3/8″ Striped Grosgrain ribbon and tied the threads in a knot. Then I took the Basic Gray ribbon that comes in the free Sale-A-Bration ribbon pack and pulled on a few threads to get it to cinch up like this. I threaded that ribbon through the loophole in the other one and glue dotted them to the card. Fun!

Inside, I added a piece of Whisper White cardstock and embossed one more diamond on it.

Sharing the Techniques

Hi, and welcome to the Stampin’ Dreams Blog Hop! This is a monthly hop with Stampin’ Up! friends around the world; you’re currently visiting Sarah Fleming in the USA. This month’s theme is Favorite Technique. Come on, that’s like asking me to pick my favorite kid! (Hint: It’s the one who isn’t whining at that moment.) After I narrowed it down to my top five or so, I finally just had to pick something. Okay, I couldn’t pick just one, so here I’m showing two of my favorites.

Stampin' Up! Ready for Christmas stamp set with glossy cardstock - Ink, Spray, & Smash technique with Emboss Resist technique - Sarah Fleming - Prepare to Dye Papercrafts - SDBH

The techniques I used on my card are Emboss Resist and Ink, Spray, & Smash. I wanted to see what kind of background I’d get with the Ink, Spray, & Smash technique if I had already embossed an image on the Glossy Cardstock. The answer is: the fun kind!

I first heat embossed the tree from Ready For Christmas with Clear embossing powder. I did this on two card fronts. Then I dropped ink from Bermuda Bay, Pool Party, and Lemon-Lime Twist reinkers onto one piece of the cardstock, spritzed that card front with water, then smashed the two card fronts together and quickly pulled them apart. I blotted off excess ink and water with a microfiber cloth, then polished the backgrounds with the same cloth.

I added a piece of Bermuda Bay 3/8″ Stitched Satin Ribbon, then added a greeting from Ready For Christmas. To finish off the card, I colored a bunch of White Perfect Accents with the Dark Bermuda Bay Stampin’ Blends marker then added those to the tree.

Thanks for stopping by today! I hope you like my card and that you’ve been inspired to try either of these techniques. You are currently visiting Sarah Fleming in the USA. Oh So Glossy

Stampin' Up! Oh So Eclectic bundle, Naturally Eclectic designer series paper, Eclectic Layers Thinlits, Striped Wipe technique with glossy cardstock - Sarah Fleming - Prepare to Dye Papercrafts
Hello, and welcome! This is my entry for Kylie Bertucci’s International Blog Highlights, and you can VOTE for my card here (I am #22). I would love to have your vote! The theme this month is Gratitude Inspired by Thailand. (It’s not an odd theme if you know that Kylie is very grateful to be on the Stampin’ Up! incentive trip in Thailand right now.) I looked through lots of pictures of Thailand and took inspiration from the colors that seem to be in every picture. Blues and greens, plus gorgeous, vibrant flowers.

Stampin' Up! Oh So Eclectic bundle, Naturally Eclectic designer series paper, Eclectic Layers Thinlits, Striped Wipe technique with glossy cardstock - Sarah Fleming - Prepare to Dye Papercrafts

Yesterday I showed you my Display Stamper card that used the Striped Wipe technique. So I made this one during my Facebook Live video yesterday to show you how to do it. I love this technique! The live video is embedded below, so watch there to see how to do this technique.

After I made the striped focal point using the Thailand-inspired colors, I embossed these leaves using the Eclectic Layers thinlits. There are a couple of dies in this set that emboss instead of cutting, and I love them! This set of dies is incredibly versatile.

Stampin' Up! Oh So Eclectic stamps with Basics Pack 1 Washi Tape - finish the inside of your handmade card - Sarah Fleming - Prepare to Dye Papercrafts

On the video, I didn’t show the inside of the card, so here it is. I stamped the Berry Burst flower twice on Whisper White cardstock and then added a strip of washi tape from Basics Pack 1 to the bottom. Check out my video to see the fun Striped Wipe technique for glossy cardstock. And please go VOTE for my card so I can be part of the international blog hop next month!

All the products I used in my card and video are listed below, with links to my online store.

Make a Wish

Good morning! We got home last night from a 3-day-weekend vacation where kind of everything went wrong, but we were still glad to get away and spend time together as a family. It was a big bummer, though, when we were two hours from home and I realized I’d left my phone at a gas station where we used the bathroom. ARRRRRRGH. So that was a three hour detour. Thankfully Google, which I usually think is creepy because it knows way too much about me, was able to tell me exactly where my phone was. Google is the best.

Stampin' Up! Happy Birthday Gorgeous with Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits , glossy cardstock, Hexagons Dynamic embossing folder

Anyway, the card I’m showing you today is one of my Display Stamper projects from OnStage in Shreveport. I made this card to showcase the new In Color Fresh Fig, glossy cardstock, the Happy Birthday Gorgeous stamp set, and the Sweet Sugarplum 3/8″ Striped Grosgrain Ribbon.

My card base is Thick Whisper White. The next layer is Pool Party cardstock. I embossed it with the Hexagons Dynamic Embossing Folder, then sponged Pool Party ink on the cardstock in various spots for some more texture. I wrapped the ribbon around that layer (taped down with Tear & Tape), then glued the Pool Party piece down.

Stampin' Up! Happy Birthday Gorgeous with Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits , glossy cardstock, Hexagons Dynamic embossing folder

For the focal point, the bottom layer is Fresh Fig cardstock, cut with the Layering Circles framelits. On top of that is Glossy White Cardstock cut with the Stitched Shapes framelits. I used the Striped Wipe technique to make my striped piece. I love how it turned out — kind of looks like a planet? The colors I used were Sweet Sugarplum, Pool Party, and So Saffron. I glued the two layers together and popped them up on Dimensionals. I cut the baby dragonflies from Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper using the Detailed Dragonfly thinlits. I colored them ombre using an Aqua Painter and Pool Party ink. Those are on Dimensionals (but now I would use Mini Dimensionals).

The sentiment is from Happy Birthday Gorgeous, stamped in Fresh Fig. I finished the card off with rhinestones.

I hope you like my card today. Come back tomorrow for more!
