Priceless Friend

Hello, stamping friends! Happy Saturday! We’re having a pretty low-key day, just hanging around the house and cleaning. My husband is working on the Little Passports boxes with the kids (they got subscriptions for Christmas), and I’ve finished deep-cleaning one room. Just 10 or so to go!

I made today’s card using the sketch from this week’s Stamp Ink Paper challenge. Great sketch!

Stampin' Up! You're Priceless with Eclectic Layers Thinlits and Brusho on Glossy Cardstock - handmade friend or thank you card - Sarah Fleming - Prepare to Dye Papercrafts

I’ve just recently gotten this stamp set, and I see so many possibilities with it. I can’t wait to color it with my Blends. But this time, I used Brusho for the background. Totally gaga over this look! This was my first time to play with Brusho on Glossy White Cardstock. You get a much different look here from using Brusho on Watercolor Paper! I’m getting so many different looks from this one product and just having so much fun. Obsessed. I used the Prussian Blue and Brilliant Red and spritzed liberally with water. I love how the outside areas look more spritzy (totally a word), and the middle looks more solid. But look at the color variation, even in the middle!

I embossed the diamonds all over the background with Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder. I also die cut one diamond out of Silver Foil Sheets using the Eclectic Layers thinlits (which are actually available in a bundle with the Oh So Eclectic stamps, or separately if you prefer). The Night of Navy circle is punched with the 2″ circle punch. I embossed the sentiment and flagged it with the Banner Triple Punch.

I had fun with the ribbons. I pulled apart the Sweet Sugarplum 3/8″ Striped Grosgrain ribbon and tied the threads in a knot. Then I took the Basic Gray ribbon that comes in the free Sale-A-Bration ribbon pack and pulled on a few threads to get it to cinch up like this. I threaded that ribbon through the loophole in the other one and glue dotted them to the card. Fun!

Inside, I added a piece of Whisper White cardstock and embossed one more diamond on it.

Waterfront Friends

Good morning! If I actually went to bed on time last night like I planned to (unlikely), then when this posts, I will be finishing up my first workout of the new year. It’s kind of a big IF because it requires getting out of bed at 5:30 a.m., and LOL. But if I don’t, I have to go in the evening, and really it’s best to just get it over with. Like a root canal. #workingoutisnotmyfavorite

Stampin' Up! Waterfront stamp set - handmade thank you card - Occasions 2018, FREE Sale-A-Bration ribbon - Sarah Fleming - Prepare to Dye Papercrafts

Anyway. Today, I’m showing you one of my surprise Must Haves from the new Occasions catalog. Seriously, when I saw this in the catalog, I skipped right by it. My second time through the catalog, I thought it looked neat but wasn’t sure I could make anything with it. And then I had some Stampin’ Rewards to spend, and everyone was raving about it, and I loved the little trees and the sentiments, so I decided to get it and try it out. I’m so glad I did! It’s a brilliant stamp set, and I have barely started playing with it.

This card took me about 15 minutes to make. I’m not exaggerating! The stamp set does all the work to make this beautiful handpainted-looking scene. It has all these different bits and elements, and you just kind of put them together. I’m So Bad at scenic cards and could not believe I made this.

Stampin' Up! Waterfront stamp set - handmade thank you card - Occasions 2018, FREE Sale-A-Bration ribbon - Sarah Fleming - Prepare to Dye Papercrafts

I first stamped the mountains in Sweet Sugarplum (the bottom mountains), stamped twice, side by side. Then I traced them onto a sticky note and cut out a very rough and quick mask, placed the mask over the Sweet Sugarplum mountains,  then stamped the Rich Razzleberry mountains. I realized I had my mask too high, and that’s why I have the white space between the mountains. But then I decided it looked like snow and I liked it, so I kept it. Under the mountains, I stamped the Crumb Cake sand? beach? bank? Then I stamped the lake in Pool Party, and a shadow on the lake in Bermuda Bay. I stamped the grassy area around the lake in both Crumb Cake and Lemon-Lime Twist (both colors on top of each other) for kind of a darker LL Twist. Then in the foreground, I stamped grass in only Lemon-Lime Twist. I stamped the trees in Tranquil Tide and the sun in Crushed Curry. The sentiment I stamped in Bermuda Bay. Then I just tied around some of the FREE Sale-A-Bration Shimmer Ribbon and glued the scene down to the card base. BOOM. So fast and easy! I’m in love.

I really love the sentiments in this set. I continued the sentiment from the front and stamped the rest inside the card in Bermuda Bay. Then I stamped the little shadow again in Pool Party.

Vintage Painted Autumn

Stampin' Up! Just Add Text and Vintage Leaves with Painted Autumn paper & Touches of Nature Elements - October 2017 designer series paper DSP sale - Sarah Fleming - Prepare to Dye Papercrafts

Hey everyone! Here’s another one of the cards I made in my DSP (designer series paper) Facebook Live video yesterday.

A couple of tips for recreating this card:

*I used two designs from the Painted Autumn paper for this card. You can recreate this card using the same layout but changing up the paper — either use different designs from Painted Autumn, or use a different paper pack altogether. Just choose your card base and white (Whisper White or Very Vanilla) based on the colors in your DSP. Here I could have gone with Lemon-Lime Twist, Early Espresso, Peekaboo Peach, Soft Sky, Very Vanilla, or even Tangerine Tango for my card base, and the card would have had a completely different look. So play around with it.

Stampin' Up! Just Add Text and Vintage Leaves with Painted Autumn paper & Touches of Nature Elements - October 2017 designer series paper DSP sale - Sarah Fleming - Prepare to Dye Papercrafts

*I stamped the leaf in Peekaboo Peach, then cut it out with the matching framelit (see supply list below). Then I used the pen end of my Tangerine Tango marker (available in the Brights pack of markers or the full set of Many Marvelous Markers) to draw in some more definition on some of the lines. My goal here was just a little more definition, to give the leaf a different look.

I tied the Touches of Nature Element to the leaf with Linen Thread, but you might want to add a dab of glue to the back of it, too, just in case.

*By the way, this is my customer thank you card for October, so if you’d like to receive one of these, just order from my online store in October! Make sure to use the host code (see below) when you shop so you get extra freebies from me.
