Happiest of Birthdays

Stampin' Up! Picture Perfect Birthday with Picture Perfect Party paper, Myths & Magic Glimmer Paper - handmade birthday card - Sarah Fleming - Prepare to Dye Papercrafts

Hey there! Super quick post for you tonight. The card base is Berry Burst, and the fun party paper is the Picture Perfect Party paper. The glimmer paper (GORJ!) is Myths & Magic Glimmer Paper, which comes in three colors. The sentiment is from Picture Perfect Birthday. The big bow looks like a real 3D bow, doesn’t it? I snipped that out of the Picture Perfect Party paper and popped it up on Dimensionals. Cool, right? I finished off the front with Iridescent Sequins.

The sentiment and bow on the inside of the card are both from Picture Perfect Birthday. The sentiment is stamped in Lemon-Lime Twist. For the bow, I stamped the main parts in Peekaboo Peach (stamped off once) and the shadows in Peekaboo Peach (not stamped off).

Shaky Birthday

Hello! It’s Friday, which means I get to create and to make customer thank you cards this afternoon… if my little toddler naps today. We went to her well baby checkup on Wednesday, and when I mentioned that my 2-year-old was skipping naps a lot, the doctor had the audacity to tell me that some 2-year-olds stop napping.

No. Nope. No. When my oldest child stopped napping at age 3, I knew I was being cheated. Because all the baby books and baby classes said they would nap until age 5. So she stopped at 3, of course. And then my son stopped napping at age 3, and that was really just the worst. So I’m sorry, but I do not accept that my 2-year-old is done with naps. She’s getting a later bedtime instead.

What were we talking about? Oh yeah. This super fun shaker card.

Stampin' Up! handmade birthday shaker card using Party Hat Birthday & Party Hat Builder framelits, Marbled background stamp, washi tape - Sarah Fleming - Prepare to Dye Papercrafts

I cut a rectangle out of the Whisper White cardstock with my Stampin’ Trimmer (2-3/4″ x 3-3/4″), then cut the background piece slightly bigger. Before I glued the Window Sheet to the back of the Whisper White piece, I embossed it with the Polka Dot Basics folder. I glued a piece of a Window Sheet, slightly larger than the window, to the back of the Whisper White cardstock.

The background piece is stamped in LL Twist with the Marbled background stamp, which I just got, and which I now love. It reminds me of cake frosting. After I stamped the background, I attached Foam Adhesive Strips all the way around the edges of the background piece, careful not to leave any gaps for the shaker bits to fall out. The shaker bits come from the Party Hat Birthday bundle. I stamped the party hat stamp with all the cakes, hats, and gifts on it in all three colors, Emerald Envy, Berry Burst, and Lemon-Lime Twist. There is a coordinating die for this stamp that cuts out all the little bits. So I stamped it twice in Berry Burst and once each in Emerald Envy and LLT. The Emerald Envy and Berry Burst ones are in the shaker, and I used three of the LL Twist ones for outside the shaker. Once the shaker bits were in and situated, I attached the Whisper White piece to the background with the foam strips, then attached the whole thing to the Berry Burst card base with more foam strips and my favorite glue.

After I stamped the sentiment, I flagged one end with the Banner Triple Punch, then glued it to the card front. I added the little LL Twist bits with glue and Mini Dimensionals, then a strip of Myths & Magic Washi Tape and a strip of washi from Basics Pack 1. Then I added sequins and I was done.

Lots of Love

FB_IMG_1488872724561Hi! Welcome to Kylie Bertucci’s International Highlights Top Ten Winners Blog Hop! Boy, that’s a mouthful. The winners from November’s Blog Highlight are hopping with Kylie today, and I’m honored to be in the winners’ blog hop again with so many talented crafters! Thank you so much to those who voted for me. Y’all are the best.

Seriously, though, thank you! And my thanks to Kylie for the opportunity! On to the card…

Stampin' Up! Lots of Love stamp set with Swirly Bird, watercolor with Aqua Painters and reinkers, handmade love card - Sarah Fleming - Prepare to Dye Papercrafts

Whoa! I hope you’re wearing your sunglasses! In case you couldn’t tell, I decided to go super bright and saturated for today’s card. Some days, you’ve just gotta.

My card base is Lemon-Lime Twist, and I made the background using Watercolor Paper and reinkers.

Stampin' Up! Lots of Love stamp set with Swirly Bird, watercolor with Aqua Painters and reinkers, handmade love card - Sarah Fleming - Prepare to Dye Papercrafts

I started by wetting my watercolor paper with the Aqua Painter where I wanted my first color, Pink Pirouette. That was kind of my all-over color. I dropped ink from the Pink Pirouette ink refill onto a Clear Block C and picked up the color with my Aqua Painter. This way you get better saturation than you would with ink from the ink pad lid. After Pink Pirouette was dry (with my Heat Tool — I’m too impatient to let it dry naturally), I used the same tools to add Real Red ink, only around opposite corners. I was originally going to just drop dots of Real Red on the paper, but you know how these things go, ha. I decided last minute to add some Melon Mambo as well. Then I added a few drops of Lemon-Lime Twist in a few spots, because the background just wasn’t bright enough.

After my background was done and dry, I heat embossed some swirls and dots using the Swirly Bird stamp set. These I did in Silver, because I was doing my sentiment in gold and really wanted to mix metallics on this card. Then I embossed my sentiment, the big, bold stamp from Lots of Love, on Vellum Cardstock in Gold, then snipped out the sentiment and added it to the card with strips from the edges of Mini Dimensionals. Just make sure to hide the Dimensionals by putting them behind the embossed letters, about every other letter.

I finished the card off with some Iridescent Sequins, then added some tiny dots of Fine Tip Glue around the card to look like raindrops.

Thanks for stopping by today! Make sure to go to the next blog in the hop and hop all the way around the world with us and get lots of inspiration. Right now you’re at Sarah Fleming’s blog.
