Share My Branch

Stampin' Up! Bird Banter - handmade friend card - Delightful Daisy & Coffee Break paper - Sarah Fleming - Prepare to Dye Papercrafts #GDP120

Good evening! I hope you’re having a great weekend and have some craft time carved out sometime this weekend. I’m determined to finally get our Christmas stuff down and decorate for Valentine’s Day, so I don’t know if I will get to craft much. But I’m sure I’ll try to sneak it in!

Today I decided to play along with Global Design Project’s Case the Designer challenge. The challenge is to CASE this amazing card by Krista Frattin. It’s ultra-feminine and beautiful, and I somehow ended up with a kinda masculine card. I’m not quite sure how that happened! That’s what happens when you CASE, though. I used her layout, though I turned my card to landscape, and I went with lots of layers. Everything else is TOTALLY different.

This was my first play with the adorable Bird Banter stamp set. I knew I wanted two birds facing each other on one branch, because I really wanted to use this sentiment. I stamped the branch in Soft Suede. I decided to paint the leaves using Brusho, though really it came out kind of Old Olive, so I could have just used my Old Olive Blends. I used a plastic painter’s tray to mix colors and used one tap of Prussian Blue crystals and about six taps of Yellow crystals, then mixed them with water. I painted the leaves with this mixture, but I used as little water as possible, because I was painting on regular Whisper White. After it dried, I went back in and added a tiny bit of paint to the center point of each leaf.

I masked off the branch before stamping the birds. I colored the Macaw with Stampin’ Blends in Cherry Cobbler (Light & Dark), Night of Navy (Light & Dark), and Daffodil Delight (Light & Dark). I colored in the bottom half of the beak with a Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker. I used the Light Smoky Slate to color the edges of the white parts of his face and beak, then I used the Color Lifter to really soften the Smoky Slate and blend it out. I added a few shadows around the outside edge with the Light Smoky Slate and used the Color Lifter the same way. To color the cockatoo, I used Light & Dark Daffodil Delight on his comb and carried the Light Daffodil down into his face, then smoothed out the edges with the Color Lifter. I used Light & Dark Pumpkin Pie on his wing and tail feathers. His beak is done with Light Night of Navy and Light Smoky Slate. Then I added shadows with Light Smoky Slate and the Color Lifter. Finally, I shaded under the branch with Light Smoky Slate.

The rest of the card is designer series paper (green background – Delightful Daisy, Soft Sky circle – Coffee Break, wood-look banner – Wood Textures).

One of a Kind

Stampin' Up! Magical Day scrapbook page, Magical Mates framelits, Sunshine & Rainbows, Rainbow Builder framelits, one of a kind layout, Myths & Magic paper - Sarah Fleming - Prepare to Dye Papercrafts

Good morning! Hopefully I’m still sleeping when this post goes live. If not, hopefully I’m on my way back to bed. Today I get to show you a darling scrapbook layout I made with the Myths & Magic suite of products along with the Sunshine & Rainbows bundle. Myths & Magic is my favorite, and Sunshine & Rainbows is definitely in my top 5. Especially now that I’ve used it.

*The 12″x12″ cardstock is from the Painted With Love cardstock assortment. I was so happy to be able to get Melon Mambo 12″x12″ cardstock again. The cloud paper is from the Myths & Magic paper, and the starry paper is from the Sale-A-Bration paper, Bubbles & Fizz (FREE with a $50 purchase).

*For the clouds along the bottom, I used the Rainbow Builder framelits — there are some big cloud edgelits that come in the set. I used Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper and Whisper White 12″x12″ paper for the clouds. To get the white cloud layer to stick to the bottom glimmer paper layer, I used the Fine Tip Glue Pen. You have to hold it on there and wait a while for it to dry, but it will stay stuck.

*The name/date tabs on the photos are punched with the Circle Tab Punch.

*I’m totally gaga over this fat unicorn! She’s from Magical Day. I stamped her in Rich Razzleberry, then colored her in with Rich Razzleberry (Light and Dark) and Pink Pirouette (Light and Dark) Stampin’ Blends. Plus Bermuda Bay (Light/Dark) Stampin’ Blends on the horn.

*The Rainbow Builder framelits make the rainbow SO easy! There are 7 sizes, and they nest perfectly for a ROYGBIV rainbow. I did my rainbow in Melon Mambo, Peekaboo Peach, Daffodil Delight, Lemon-Lime Twist, Bermuda Bay, Sweet Sugarplum, and Rich Razzleberry. I cut all of the pieces, then glued them down to the largest circle from the Layering Circles framelits. I chopped off the excess circle, then cut the half-circle off in the center of the rainbow. When you do it this way, you can move the rainbow around to your heart’s content until you decide exactly where you want it. That’s Wink of Stella all over the rainbow and the unicorn’s hair.

*The title is from Magical Day, and after I cut it out with the die from the framelits, I stamped “you are” again, then snipped it out and popped it up on Mini Dimensionals. I cut a second banner out of Lemon-Lime Twist, snipped it apart in the middle, and glued it to the top and bottom of the back of the title.

*You could easily convert this title section to a card. In fact, I’m sure I will!

The tiny sun is from Sunshine & Rainbows, and the sunburst behind it, stamped in Melon Mambo, is from the Sale-A-Bration stamp set Amazing You (FREE with $50 purchase!). It adds a little texture and a little fun.

Everything Merry

Stampin' Up! Ready For Christmas, Merry Little Christmas paper, Layering Circles framelits, Lots of Labels framelits - handmade Christmas holiday card - Sarah Fleming - Prepare to Dye Papercrafts

Today I have a very simple card for you. The card base is Berry Burst. I added a piece of Merry Little Christmas paper, after sponging some Lemon-Lime Twist ink onto the paper. That’s my favorite thing about this paper. Each sheet has a side with Old Olive and a side that is only black and white. And you can color the black and white side however you like.

Stampin' Up! Ready For Christmas, Merry Little Christmas paper, Layering Circles framelits, Lots of Labels framelits - handmade Christmas holiday card - Sarah Fleming - Prepare to Dye Papercrafts

I stamped the sentiment from the Ready for Christmas stamp set in Berry Burst ink. I LOVE the LL Twist / Berry Burst combo for Christmas this year! I cut out the sentiment and the LL Twist piece behind it with with the Layering Circles framelits. I usually use the scalloped circles with the circles from the Stitched Shapes framelits, but I really like using two of the scalloped circles together, too. The Basic Black cardstock is cut out with the Lots of Labels framelits.

All of the items I used in my card can be found in my online Stampin’ Up! store (linked supply list is at the end of this post). Make sure to use the October Host Code (below), and I’ll send you extra goodies!
