Oh So Glossy

Stampin' Up! Oh So Eclectic bundle, Naturally Eclectic designer series paper, Eclectic Layers Thinlits, Striped Wipe technique with glossy cardstock - Sarah Fleming - Prepare to Dye Papercrafts
Hello, and welcome! This is my entry for Kylie Bertucci’s International Blog Highlights, and you can VOTE for my card here (I am #22). I would love to have your vote! The theme this month is Gratitude Inspired by Thailand. (It’s not an odd theme if you know that Kylie is very grateful to be on the Stampin’ Up! incentive trip in Thailand right now.) I looked through lots of pictures of Thailand and took inspiration from the colors that seem to be in every picture. Blues and greens, plus gorgeous, vibrant flowers.

Yesterday I showed you my Display Stamper card that used the Striped Wipe technique. So I made this one during my Facebook Live video yesterday to show you how to do it. I love this technique! The live video is embedded below, so watch there to see how to do this technique.

After I made the striped focal point using the Thailand-inspired colors, I embossed these leaves using the Eclectic Layers thinlits. There are a couple of dies in this set that emboss instead of cutting, and I love them! This set of dies is incredibly versatile.

On the video, I didn’t show the inside of the card, so here it is. I stamped the Berry Burst flower twice on Whisper White cardstock and then added a strip of washi tape from Basics Pack 1 to the bottom. Check out my video to see the fun Striped Wipe technique for glossy cardstock. And please go VOTE for my card so I can be part of the international blog hop next month!

Magical Glossy Mermaid

Stampin' Up! Magical Mermaid with glossy cardstock - Ink Spray & Smash background technique - handmade birthday card - Sarah Fleming - Prepare to Dye Papercrafts

Hey, there!

In yesterday’s Facebook Live video, I made this gorgeous ocean background using the Ink Spray & Smash technique for glossy cardstock backgrounds. I am pretty new to glossy cardstock and am loving all the techniques you can use with it!

Sweet Pineapple

Stampin' Up! Pineapple background stamp with Cupcake Cutouts framelits and shaving cream background - Splitcoast Stampers Creative Crew - Sarah Fleming - Prepare to Dye Papercrafts

My second card for the Creative Crew over at Splitcoaststampers this month is for the color challenge. The May color challenge was pretty challenging for me, as I struggle with putting more than three colors on one card.

These are the colors, and we’re supposed to come up with whatever is closest to Stampin’ Up! colors. My colors may be a little bit of a stretch, but I settled on Berry Burst (available June 1 for customers and May 2 for demonstrators!), Flirty Flamingo, Pink Pirouette, Old Olive, Pear Pizzazz, and Sahara Sand. I didn’t use Pear Pizzazz in the background, only as a mat behind the main panel.

I decided to use the Shaving Cream background technique and Whisper White cardstock to get all these colors working together. Once I made my first two backgrounds, I loved them so much that I made six more. I just couldn’t stop! And each one is unique — they all look completely different! So I will be sending out quite a few cards made with this background.

The colorful background reminded me of the gorgeous flowers in Hawaii, so I decided this card needed the sweet gold pineapple. After the background was dry, I stamped the Pineapple background stamp (retiring soon!) in Versamark (I used the MISTI to make sure I got really good ink coverage), then embossed it in gold.

I layered the main panel over a panel of Pear Pizzazz and a card base of Pink Pirouette. Then I cut the word “sweet” out of both Berry Burst and Pink Pirouette cardstock, using the Cupcake Cutouts framelits. I finished off the card with some Whisper White Thick Baker’s Twine (also retiring).

For the inside, I simply stamped part of a sentiment from the Sweet Cupcake stamp set.
