International Blog Highlight: Amazing Wizard

Hello! Thanks for stopping by my blog today. We are being highlighted by the wonderful Kylie Bertucci, and you can VOTE for my project. The top ten winners will get to be part of an international blog hop in February, so please do go vote for me. I’d love to be in the top 10 blog hop again next month!

Stampin' Up! Magical Day with Brusho Crystal Colour, Magical Mates framelits, Sunshine & Rainbows, and Celebrate You thinlits - free Sale-A-Bration item with qualifying purchase - Sarah Fleming - Prepare to Dye Papercrafts

Our theme for this month is Favorite Occasions and Sale-A-Bration products. It’s so hard to choose, but my top two favorites from the Occasions catalog have to be the Magical  Day bundle and Brusho Crystal Color. And when you put these two things together, you get amazing results (no pun intended).

I made my background with Brusho on Watercolor Paper. I used Brilliant Red and Prussian Blue. I spritzed the paper until it was very wet, then added both colors in the same spots, to see if they would blend. And they did! I kept spritzing and dabbing up pools of water until I liked the way it looked. I love the deep purple-y gray that I got from it. After the background was dry, and I mean waaaay after (I made the background weeks before I finished the card, haha), I heat embossed these awesome lightning strikes in Silver. The lightning is from the new Sunshine & Rainbows bundle.

On the Whisper White cardstock, I stamped another stamp from Magical Day in Rich Razzleberry.

Dumbledore Generic Wizard is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black. I first covered his robe with the Light Smoky Slate Stampin’ Blends marker. Then I went over it in Light Rich Razzleberry, then added shading with Dark Rich Razzleberry and smoothed everything out with the Light Rich Razzleberry again. IMPORTANT: When you are coloring over something this many times, make sure to leave plenty of bleed room at the edges — don’t go all the way to the stamped edges. After you’re done and your colors have stopped bleeding outward, then you can carefully fill in any white edges with the lightest color, flicking inward from the edges and smoothing everything out.

For his hat, I used the same colors but only did one application of Light Rich Razzleberry and only added Dark RR to the brim. I colored his beard with Light and Dark Smoky Slate and his skin with Ivory and Bronze. After I die cut him, I colored in the white areas around the stamped image with the Light Smoky Slate, to blend it in with the card a little better.

I put a Silver Glimmer Paper lightning bolt coming out of his hand and added Basic Gray Shimmer Ribbon (part of the Sale-A-Bration Shimmer Ribbon Pack, FREE with a $50 order in the US). Then I added the “amazing” die cut from the Celebrate You thinlits (FREE during Sale-A-Bration with a $100 order). Finally, I added some rhinestones, because I love rhinestones.

Oh, What Fun!

Stampin' Up! handmade Christmas card with Merry Music paper, Winter Wonder embossing folder, Trim Your Stocking thinlits, Oh What Fun stamp set - Sarah Fleming - Prepare to Dye Papercrafts

Hello! I hope all is well with y’all today.

I decided to join in with Freshly Made Sketches today — I haven’t played along with them recently and just loved this week’s sketch, so this was a great time to jump back in.

Stampin' Up! handmade Christmas card with Merry Music paper, Winter Wonder embossing folder, Trim Your Stocking thinlits, Oh What Fun stamp set - Sarah Fleming - Prepare to Dye Papercrafts

My card base is Garden Green (gasp! I know!). I cut a Real Red panel, then embossed the gorgeous Winter Wonder snowflake on the bottom two-thirds. I sponged Real Red ink over the snowflake, just for a little extra depth. Then I sponged all the way around the edge of the Real Red cardstock. The paper (which actually has the words “Oh! what fun” on it) is from the Merry Music Specialty designer series paper. I cannot get enough of this paper!

I thought the “oh, what fun” sentiment from the Oh, What Fun stamp set was pretty perfect for this card. I heat embossed it in silver, then added a strip of Silver Glimmer Paper behind it. The snowflake is from the Trim Your Stocking thinlits, and I finished off the card with a Clear Faceted Gem. I love these things!

I stamped the inside with a stamp from Hang Your Stocking and also added a strip of the Merry Music paper.

Squee! Baby Narwhal!

Stampin' Up! Quirky Critters, embossing paste, Beautiful Bouquet bundle, Support Ribbon framelits, silver mini sequin trim - Kylie's International Blog Highlights - handmade baby card - Sarah Fleming - Prepare to Dye Papercrafts

Hello, and welcome! This is my entry for Kylie Bertucci’s International Blog Highlights, and you can VOTE for my cards here (I am #41). I would love to have your vote! The theme this month is BABY. I looked through my baby stamp sets and didn’t feel anything, but then I came across my new Quirky Critters stamp set, and I just had to!

Stampin' Up! Quirky Critters, embossing paste, Beautiful Bouquet bundle, Support Ribbon framelits, silver mini sequin trim - Kylie's International Blog Highlights - handmade baby card - Sarah Fleming - Prepare to Dye PapercraftsSQUEE! Baby narwhals!

I literally squealed in delight when I saw this adorable stamp set in the catalog. It has a narwhal (the unicorn of the sea) AND a sloth! Yep, top of my list.

For the background on my baby girl card, I used the new Embossing Paste mixed with Powder Pink ink refill. I love the masks that I have, but I wanted something that said baby, so I made my own mask using a Window Sheet and the strip of hearts in the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits and spread the Embossing Paste through the mask onto the Soft Sky card base. Also in the background are strips of Powder Pink cardstock and Silver Glimmer Paper, some Silver Mini Sequin Trim, and a Powder Pink flower cut using the Support Ribbon Framelits.

After I stamped and cut my narwhal, I also added some flowers using the Beautiful Bouquet bundle. Finally, I topped the card off with Metallic Sequins. LOVE these!

On the inside, I stamped the sentiment from Moon Baby and some more flowers from Beautiful Bouquet. I love when I can use a non-baby set for a baby card!

I loved making the card so much that I had to make a boy card to go with it. This time I used Lemon-Lime Twist and Pool Party. And instead of my handmade mask, I used one of the masks from the Pattern Party Decorative Masks. My final change was to use the Iridescent Sequins instead of the Metallics. Soooo pretty!

Which one do you like better? I think I’m all for the boy card.

Thanks for stopping by, and please go VOTE for #41 in the gallery! I’d love to participate in the top 10 winners blog hop again!

I made the baby boy card in my live Facebook video today. Watch here:

Remember I am taking signups for my Paper, Ribbon, and Embellishments shares right now. Check out the details here (including the Stampin’ Up! videos that show all of the paper).
