Happy New Year!

Stampin' Up! Party Hat Birthday bundle with Party Hat Builder framelits, Merry Cafe stamps, Ruffled embossing folder - handmade card - Happy New Year card - heat embossing - Sarah Fleming - Prepare to Dye Papercrafts

Hey! Happy New Year’s Eve! I thought I’d make a festive card to help usher in the new year. 2017 was not my favorite, and I’m looking forward to a fresh start in 2018, even though it’s pretty much an arbitrary date that we say means things will be better. Haha. My card uses the multi-step stamp set, Party Hat Birthday, from the new Occasions catalog (available Wednesday!). I embossed in gold, silver, and copper. But I think if I were to duplicate this card, I’d try the third stamp (the one with all the tiny dots and confetti) in Archival Basic Black ink and not emboss that step.

With this set, I find it easiest to start with the stamp that has the candle on top (the candle is hidden here, but it’s the one I embossed in gold). Next I emboss the one with the largest images, which is the one done in silver. Finally I fill in the teeny blank spaces with the third stamp (copper). I embossed the card base with the Ruffled Dynamic Embossing Folder. I stamped, heat embossed, and die cut my party hat, then cut the puffy edge out of Silver Foil and embossed that with the Softly Falling folder. The Gold Foil puff ball is another die in this bundle. It makes a great asterisk, too.

For the sentiment, I straightened out the “and a HAPPY NEW YEAR!” stamp (you can bend photopolymer stamps when you attach them to blocks, and you can also straighten them) from Merry Cafe and stamped it in Memento Tuxedo Black, then punched it out with the Duet Banner Punch. I also punched a banner (the other in the punch) out of Basic Black cardstock, glued the white banner to the black banner, and popped the sentiment up on Dimensionals. Everything else is on Dimensionals, too. You’re not surprised.

Some of the things I used in my card can be found in my online Stampin’ Up! store now, and the Occasions catalog and Sale-A-Bration items will be available January 3. Ridiculously Happy

Hello, and welcome to the Aim for Alaska Blog Hop! I am Sarah Fleming, and I am in the USA. Aim for Alaska is Kylie Bertucci‘s training program. This program has helped my business so much! I’m very grateful to be part of this wonderful group. Today we are hopping together, and we are all using sneak peek products from the new annual catalog! All of these products will be available to order on June 1. I can’t wait until the full catalog is live for everyone!

Stampin' Up! Lovely Friends bundle with Lovely Laurel Thinlits and In Color Finely Woven Ribbon - new catalog sneak peeks - Aim for Alaska blog hop - #stampinup #6monthstampingoals #aimforalaska - Sarah Fleming - Prepare to Dye Papercrafts

My card features the new In Colors Berry Burst and Lemon-Lime Twist and the new Lovely Friends bundle. Lovely Friends has wonderful sentiments! Two really large sentiments and lots of smaller ones. And the fonts are beautiful. I’m thrilled with the stamp set! The thinlits are also amazing. They create popups for the inside of your card. But I have used the popup dies here to cut vellum accent pieces that go behind my sentiment.

My card base is Bermuda Bay, with a Basic Black mat on top. I tied the Lemon-Lime Twist 1/2″ Finely Woven Ribbon on next — this ribbon comes in all five new In Colors and is delightful to work with! Next I glued on the vellum pieces that I cut using the thinlits.

I stamped the sentiment using the MISTI. I used a 4″-wide piece of cardstock (the width is important) and inked up the top of the stamp in LL Twist and stamped, then cleaned the stamp and inked up the middle with Bermuda Bay and stamped, then inked up the bottom of the stamp with Berry Burst and stamped. I love multi-colored sentiments, and this is the easiest way I’ve found to do it with photopolymer stamps (since coloring on the ink with markers works great for red rubber stamps but doesn’t work so well on photopolymers).

Here’s why the width of the Whisper White cardstock is important. The largest die in the Lots of Labels framelits are exactly 4″ wide, except for the curvy part on each side. So I cut out the label using that framelit, and it leaves off the side curvy parts (you could also use a wider piece of cardstock and cut off the curvy parts, but this gives you fewer small scraps). It gives you a totally different look and use for these framelits! Play around with them and see what else you can do with them.

The flowers are from the same stamp set, and these are stamped three times, including the black centers. There are framelits that cut them out. The black leaves are also from the same set.

This is a really brilliant bundle, and I know you’re going to love it!

Make sure to hop through to all of the other blogs in the hop. Right now you are at Sarah Fleming’s blog. I can’t wait to see what these other talented Stampin’ Up! demonstrators have created to inspire you. I hope I’ve inspired you, too!
