Hey there! Just a quick post to put up my card for the December Fusion challenge. I chose to use both the sketch and the photo for inspiration, and I love how the card turned out! I hope you like it, too. :)
Have a great evening!

Good morning! Did you get snowed in this weekend? We woke up to about four inches of snow on Saturday (and it kept coming), but driving in it was doable, so I went to my friend’s stamp camp and then came home and finished editing my husband’s book!! I’m so happy to have that done, and he’s happy to be sending the manuscript off to his publisher today. Yesterday we woke up to -3 degree temps, though, so all I have to say about that is BRRRRRR. No no no no no. Just no.
This is what I call a “desk cleanoff card”, one of my favorite kinds of cards to make lately. As the name suggests, I came across almost everything on the card as I was cleaning off my desk (after weeks of not being able to see the top of it). I had in mind to use the colors for the Fab Friday challenge on this card, so I added some Coastal Cabana elements to the things I’d found on my desk, and a card was born.
And now I just went and looked at the Fab Friday design team cards again and noticed my general layout is really close to Justin’s layout. While I do love his card and have saved it for later CASEing, that was actually not intentional. Oops!
Have a great day!

Hello, and welcome to Prepare to Dye! This is my first post as part of the new Dynamic Duos Design Team, and I’m excited to share a fun, bright card with you! I’m sure many of you are here for the first time, so thanks for stopping by. I hope you’ll come back.
This week’s challenge colors are Real Red and Bermuda Bay. I’m a Brights Color Collection lover, so this is my kind of color combination.
I actually started with the embellishments on this card. When I saw Real Red and Bermuda Bay, I went looking through my ribbon, and I had the 1/8″ Taffeta Ribbon in both colors. Which meant that I had to use that ribbon. And, oh, I also have it in silver, so I figured I should throw that in there, too. And the colors are Christmasy, so tiny ribbons scream tiny ornaments. And that’s how I decided on the Mosaic Punch and the ornament from the Very Merry Tags stamp set.
While I think there can never be enough red (my favorite color), I think there is a limit to the amount of Bermuda Bay you should see in one sitting, or you can burn your pupils. ;-) So I added the white panel (for this, I cut a 4″ x 5-1/4″ mat and then cut it in half on the diagonal with my Stampin’ Trimmer) and embossed it with the Modern Mosaic folder.
I love shiny things on my cards and can’t really get enough of the Glimmer Paper, so I added a strip of that and then two tiny strips of the Silver Foil paper.
The sentiment is also from Very Merry Tags. I punched it out with the 7/8″ Scalloped Circle punch and popped it up on a Mosaic and added the silver ribbon to tie everything together.
I hope you like the card. I’d love to see what you do with the challenge, so head on over and play, and see what the other amazing designers did with this challenge!

Wow! July is winding down already! Between family coming to town and us going out of town for Convention, it really flew by quickly. And we’d just arrived home from a road trip (with the kids!) to Texas at the end of June, so we are all traveled out. The hubs and I have agreed that we are staying put for a while. Mainly because I’m tired of sweating and would like to hibernate for the rest of the summer.
I sat at my desk last night, thinking I wanted to make something playful using a stamp I’ve never used before. I attended a great presentation at Stampin’ Up! Convention that reminded me that I should be more playful in general. I’m playful when I’m with my kids and often with my husband (we are quite a silly household), but when I’m alone I’m not usually as playful.
I found the “Bah Hum Bug” stamp from Very Merry Tags (I think this set will be used a lot this year, at least by me) and thought maybe I could make something playful with it. I considered Santa, but I just made a Santa card, so I wanted something different. Hmm… I’ll probably go back and make a similar card using Santa, because that could be a lot of fun. Anyway, I scanned through my stamp cases and found this guy:
Ha! Isn’t he great? He’s from the Zoo Babies stamp set, which is typically used for baby cards and kid cards. So I love that I found an unexpected use for him. The word bubble is from the Designer Typeset Alphabet photopolymer stamp set — excellent set for making quick cards or adding quick embellishments, and the price is fantastic — $13.95 for 57 stamps!
Both of the patterned papers are from the Season of Style DSP. I went with the polka dots because, well, they’re fun, and this card was about being playful. I’m seriously lamenting the fact that I don’t have a tiny Santa Claus hat stamp, and my printer is out of ink, so I couldn’t print one out from My Digital Studio. He would be adorable in one.
This was my first time to use the Squares Collection framelits. Oh my word, so much easier, and my image is perfectly centered.
